The Investigator wants Steve back.
The Investigator's Posts
Just come home from yet another business trip, and have discovered that Dawlish will be blessed with a visit by a member of the Royal Family sometime in September. It is believed to be the Countess of Wessex. (Sophie) I am sure that more information will be available in our wonderful newspapers this week. ps. @ DM. Sorry friend, but you got the wrong person. I assume that the old guy taking the ...
@PJD Ask Dawlish Man. He has ALL the answers. LOL But only if he sticks his head up his backside. He talks from it.
Do you know where I spend my holidays PJD? DAWLISH!!!! Why, because I love this town. I dont spend money during my business trips as it is covered by expenses. Yes, I am lucky to be in a position where I can claim expenses, but when I come home, pubs and restaurants do well from MY pocket, as I spend MY money in THIS town. Mrs Investigator doesn't feel the need to go to Tesco and spend money, as ...
@PJD "come September we will have it all to ourselves again" Does that mean we have to lock ourselves indoors and not come out till next year? As the weather is still reasonable at that time of year (it has been for a few years now) and through till the end of October, Mrs Investigator and myself would like to sit at a roadside café and soak up the ambience and atmosphere and watch the world go by ...
Ok, you win. As you seem to resent the fact that I have to work away on business at least twice a month, I will terminate my account on here and swear never to return. I am away on Monday till Thursday, so this will be my last weekend.
Unfortunately Woolies is still empty, along with Threshers across the road. Stewarts, down opposite the station has also closed down. The ferret & Radiator pub has closed. The Swan Inn has now got a restaurant and sells really good food. So, apart from that, not a lot. Hope you have a good time.
Thanks for that. We had better make the most of this years show then. I hope that I will be awake to see it. Dont get back from Frankfurt till near midnight on Wednesday.
Exactly. This isnt facebook and its not a mobile phone text message.
Thank you 'Wondering'. At least YOU showed some respect. Thank you.
I believe that it is being opened officially in September by the Countess of Wessex. As for the rumours, what rumours? (Sorry, I have been out of town again.)
@DM. Before this goes any further, I sincerely apologise for my outburst directed towards you.
I knew you would be impressed. People will still be talking about it in years to come. So DM, what excitement did you have today? Shame you were not at the station. You could have carried my luggage. I would have given you 10p.
According to their (brainwave) website, they are moving to Richmond Place, and Stewarts is the only property for them there, unless I am mistaken
What a wonderful day yesterday, with many people attending the Bowls Tournament at Dawlish Bowls Club, with all proceeds going to good causes, and well done to all concerned. However, during the night and after everyone had gone home, some of the local scum who sadly infest this town, obviously took objection to the fun that was being had on the Bowling Green, by deciding that it would be fun (?) ...
@ J Warrener. Surely sir, you are taking the michael.
Just goes to show the limited vocabulary of the eye informer in having to resort to such abusive language. Limited brainpower also comes to mind. So mr Eye informer, why not go play with your toys, do your homework and stop playing on your computer before mummy finds out and smacks your botty.
Lynx Helicopters have a very course distinctive sound so if it was not making a noise, then that counts them out. Apache. RMC do not use them so they would not be based at Lympstone. In fact, I have never seen an Apache in the skies round here. Chinese lanterns do seem to be the most favourable answer.
@mark . "i estimate 6 minutes to get to the exemouth landing" how on earth did you arrive at that figure?
See my post in the Events section, titled Spirit of the exe, and Exe-travaganza for more info. Amber Coast fest will be a NON EVENT.
@Taxi Driver . well then, email them and complain about it to them. i have done it, so why not more do it? dont be a typical dawlish person who sits on their arse all day letting someone else sort it out.
Thats the Lansdowne for you. They are a law unto themselves, and it is a Chavs Palace. There ARE decent pubs in Dawlish, and the simple solution is, DONT go in the Lansdowne if you dont like it. As for putting the table in the road, that was for the 3 legged race.
Bay City Rollers? They couldnt sing then, so what chance now? We supply the Buckfast and they can bring the Irn-Bru. LOL. I agree with Dawlish Man that the Specials and Madness would be great. Excellent entertainment for all ages. That is what they need. Would like to see Dave Edmunds & Rockpile here, but I think that is asking to much. UB40 also. Just my sixpenny worth. FAO AMBER COAST. If anyone ...
"i imagine people see him and instead of pulling in they drive past and find another chippy." @Cal . cant say i blame them. its far from good anyway.
@ J Warrener. Have you tried the Tribute yet?
Agreed Mr Warrener. That was near enough the point that I was making 3 above your comment.
@mark . i believe that it is more down to water quality. lots of beaches have stones, so why should that come into it? also, living in leeds, i dont suppose for one minute you get flotsam on the streets there.
In fact they havent really answered my question, have they !!! What about the 2 emails I have already sent, and to the proper person as stated on their website? Communication seems to be lacking in all depts here.
@Vanguard . that is so true.
Exactly. And how many local bands are there who would have jumped at the chance of doing a stint there? Methinks that ACE have blown there chance to be taken seriously.
I think its a shame. Look at what we have got now !!! Someone from Surrey I believe. A real local (?) person who has NO interest in this area, except to use it as a step to get into Parliament. I heard her talking back in March, and she has NO IDEA about life down here.
Many thanks Sue. I didnt think it was going ahead this year. I heard it had been (the organising committee)thrown into turmoil after a resignation from one of the committee members.
I'll drink to that. LOL. Give the Black Prince a try when he has it in. Its a dark beer, but goes down a treat.
@mark . did you read the original post??? its a jam session for christs sake, not a full blown gig. ok, make it on a sunday lunchtime or on a bh monday afternoon then. its nice to hear live music no matter what year/genre it comes from. there are other people in this town that appreciate music apart from those under the age of 25. dave. have you asked up at the swan? its worth a try.
Down the Strand and Brunswick St would be better.
@Dawlish Man . i believe that it was due to staffing problems and something to do with the chap who was the manager (not mr baker)leaving. that is what i have heard, so it may not be gospel.
They are trying to fill the void that was left when Woolies shut down. People dont realise what a great service Woolies provided to this town.
Hey Dave. Check out my reply to your other post.
Why worry about Wilkinsons being the cause of some shop closures when Tesco/Sainsburys will be the cause of ALL the shops closing.
