Does anyone know why the new Youth Centre in Sandy Lane is not yet open? It's been finished a few weeks ago and should be up and running in the holidays. Is it a youth Centre? or is it something else?????? I hope the rumors that are going around are not true!!!!!!!!!
I believe that it is being opened officially in September by the Countess of Wessex. As for the rumours, what rumours? (Sorry, I have been out of town again.)
I think you'll find that the building to which you are referring got morphed, via a new planning application, from being a youth/community centre to being a facility for vocational learning for young people. Whether or not the wider community will be able to use the facilities remains to be seen.
It will be open in september, there will be a youth club and facilities for the community college, e.g hairdressing, maintenance etc. It will be open to other companys after about 12 months from opening in september. Hope that helps.
Not only is it an aesthetically pleasing building, but it's also going to be a great working asset to our town. Thumbs up from me? :)
I thought we were going to have a youth centre for the youth of Dawlish. It's more like a training college. After 12 months it will be open to other companies, what does that mean? Training for young offenders etc!!!!!!!!!!! Is it anything to do with the fact that the building was taken out of Teignbridge hands and was taken over by Exeter Council. Don't know if its true a large bird told me, maybe someone knows and can clear things up!!!!!!!
@ZIGGY, not exeter council but devon county council. the county council is responsible (at the moment) for education and youth services. teignbridge district council owns the land. i guess it might help clarify things if someone somewhere could say who will be using it. i understand the students from the community college most cetainly will but who else i don't know.
1 The new centre is being equipped and got ready for September use. 2 The centre will be 'opened' officially on September 10th 3 The building will be open to the Public on September 11th, Saturday, when you can satisfy your curiosity, use your imagination and suggest how you'd like to see it contribute to life in Dawlish. I think eyes will boggle and faces outside the town will turn green with envy. 4 Clear your minds of any prejudice and use it to the advantage of all age groups.
