How and why do people get away with parking on the pavement in Brook Street? The van marked R N Gove is habitually there blocking the pavement and you have to drive on the other pavement to get passed it, then his can seams to have private use of the Manor car park. Am I missing somthing?

Its the same round the Longlands area, the refuse was not collected down Stockton one week as they could see a car on the path and could not get through. Which party do I vote for that will issue parking tickets?? lol.

I can certainly understand your frustration we have the same problem in upper long lands, cars and vans continually park on footpaths forcing people to walk in the road, unlike brook street which I believe has double yellow lines upper long lands does not have any hence the parking problem, having said that Teignbridge council has a lot to answer for, for there lack of patrols with their so called wardens, look at queen street and high street sorry for the rant but this subject make my blood boil.

The problem is the new enforcement officers cant deal with obstruction that is a matter for the new P.C.S.O. The other problem is the lines are so poor in Dawlish that many of them are not legal and havent been for many years and therefore penalty notices cant legaly be issued. These problems all came about when the Police lost there powers to deal with parking the old Police Traffic Wardens had a wide range of powers to deal with all these problems it was going to be a change for the better but like many things it isnt. With regards to upper longlands i believe there is some problem with the ownership of the road fpn,s where issued by the Police a few years ago and all had to be withdrawn. Your best bet for parking in Brook Street if they obstruct the footpath phone the Police they are obliged to deal with it as obstruction of the public footpath

Used to live in Brook Street, bloody nightmare. That RN Gove van is always parked there and never gets a ticket, when other people have , must be mates with the traffic warden !!

He lives in Brook Street and sometimes needs to go home to collect materials - he is not the only reident to park on the pavement in the street but I dont see you having a go at them. He is not the only resident of Dawlish to park in the Manor - what is your problem - I like the way you hide behind a user name and not have the bottle to use your own name - get a life or knock on my door and tell me to my face.

NOBODY should park on the pavements! NO EXCEPTIONS. I can't believe that PJD is condoning this illegal selfishness. And as for Joanne, go and tell your selfish husband to keep his vehicle off of the paths. Pavements are for pedestrians not cars or vans.

I was refrring to knocking on the door and saying it to her face. i am lucky enough to be able to pull up outside y house to load or unload, unfortunately Brook St. is different, if they do not pull up onto the pavement they block the road ffs

Double yellow lines are there for a reason, if you are unsure check the highway code, and for your information I have driven up brook street many times whether it be cars or vans are always parked there and you have to mount the pavement to get past....simple solution don’t park there!!

It is Illegal to park on the pavement. It is officially causing an obstruction. The van is there a LOT LONGER than it takes to off load/collect materials. There is a car park just 25 yards away. If he wants to park, why not pay to park properly? @PJD. Sitting on the fence and cant make your mind up as usual.

Please get your facts right before commenting on what I have said. He is not my husband yet but at least I have the guts to use my own name - unlike you. Most people even if the pavements are clear walk on the road and, if you actually live in Brook Street, maybe you should be more concerned about the prats who drive up the road at speed. We are not the only residents who sometime park outside their property but at least it slows the prats down cos soon, someone will kill some child. The offer still stands - come and tell me to my face - would love to meet you - you must be whiter than white.

Let's hope that the council extend the High Street traffic calming scheme to include Brook Street. Though hopefully they won't widen the pavenment outside your house, just in case you think of it as your own personal parking lot.

Time they started to tow his van and other vehicles away. How can you go on about cars speeding when the van causes people to walk on the road. No wonder he hasnt married you yet, you sound a right bulldog chewing a wasp.

People walk in the road anyway your moron. If you want to start slagging me off and verbally attacking me then have the decency to do it to my face. People like you are gutless - you only take people on hiding behind your PC. This started over parking - you have now decided to make it personal - what sort of person are you. After this reply, wont be answering your comments again. You are pathetic, have no life and I would really LOVE TO MEET YOU.

Oh touched a nerve !, dont tell me to get a life, you would be the first one to complain if it was one of your friends or family that got run over because they had to walk in the road due to that van being parked on the pavement. You sound like a really classy bird, I think you would do better on Jerry Springer. And dont bother answering with threats, because if you look back at your replies you will see how childish they sound. Grow up.

If we didnt have to pay for parking then the illegal paking would not happen. We pay enough council bloody tax dont we, one of the highest in the country (even work collegues in London dont pay as much as we do) and they still want more, when we want a loaf of bread from our local shop, which by the way we are constantly told to support, we have to pay for the privilage or park illegally.

Who's the moron? You're the one that actually said you drive to pick up your loaf of bread - you mentioned nothing about a bi-weekly shop! If you drive to any town centre in any county, you'll find that you have to pay to park - it's not a Dawlish pecadillo. Still, once Saino's is open you'll be able to park there for free (for a couple of hours). And yes I do apologise, because I missed the bit about you working away. I think I must have dropped off before I reached that sentence. Seriously though, there are plenty of local jobs available, I take it your profession is a very specialised one.

Keysham, Bristol, Reading, Sheffield, Doncaster, just to mention a few that have free parking for the first half hour in certain car parks. If they and others can do it why not here. It works in other places and stops the parking on double yellows while short visits are made. Simpley press the machine button that says up to half hour and hey presto a ticket emerges. Like anyother timed parking if you go over you get fined, cant be much more simple can it. Just where are the "plenty" of jobs locally? I take you havent been to the job centre recently then or looked in the jobs vacant in the papers. But I am moving away from the original thread sorry.

Police seen moving on a car parked on a footpath on Sunday in Stockton Road, next day I noticed the same car parked overnight! ..the highway code is not followed, it must be ok to park on a path. So then.. the road is for people to walk in and footpaths are for cars .. I get it now!
