Not posted for a long time. Saturday & Sunday good, Monday not so good. What has happened to the 'Bay Trip' boatman? Has he 'sunk' without trace? Seaweed on the town beach on Saturday & Sunday was not cleared till the Monday morning. Back for a week in Mid-July.

Hi L&C, glad your still visiting Dawlish. It's also good to get any feed back about Dawlish by our regular visitors. Hope the weather etc improves for your next visit.

The one thing that i regularly hear from visitors, is the state of the walkway under the station platform. Its stinks due to the crap from the pigeons, there are holes galore in the wood panels allowing them to nest.

My wife & I often do walk under the platform, on our way to the Warren, but the pigeons & crap do not particularly bother us. We are well used to being crapped on!!! Any one who can update us on the boat trips from the jetty?

Hi L&C. He was there last Thursday or Friday, which surprised me. I have heard it on good authority that he will be doing a regular service during high season, so he should be there when you are here next. Hope you enjoy yourselves.

Still wish there was a service to Exmouth, few hours there and return to Dawlish would be good.

Thank you.. I really dont know why they have no 'get up and go'. Put a sign outside of tourist info 'trips to Exmouth' and at the road crossing by the rail bridge. Its no good just shouting with a loud speaker and judging popularity of trips by that. Good publicity and it would work, clearly they cant be bothered, so will not happen.

Well done you two for 'Hijacking' the thread. Couldnt you have put this in the Exmouth ferry forum post that was started by Mark back in early May? All L&C wanted to know was when trips around the bay was starting, nothing else.

The thread wasn't hijacked, it evolved. It's an internet forum; they do... Self-appointed forum police eh? Wondering, do you know whether a licence is required in order to operate a ferry service - I suspect that might be the case but don't know for sure? The Teignmouth to Shaldon ferryman has certainly had to jump through a lot of hoops in order to be able to operate his excellent service.

New bus service routes have to be submitted to the Traffic Commissioners and if no objection is given the service can go ahead, I would imagine it could be the same for ferry services. East Devon and Teignbridge Council would only be involved if they funded but I imagine they could still object if they were not happy.

@DM The thread wasn't hijacked, it evolved. It's an internet forum; they do... Self-appointed forum police eh? Your words. There IS such a thing called etiquette. YOU seem to ignore it, which is what we all come to expect from you.

I agree with you. (please guys, don't accuse me of being DM) Threads do evolve naturally and that is a different process from hijacking. I can imagine a ferryman having to do a three year course to get a certificate of ferrymanship even if he's been on the sea or river all his life. Don
