i have just heard a rumour that woolies is gonna be a wilkinsons store. is this true? if so how many shops will be put out of business, they sell pet products, kitchen things, garden things, electricals and much more, so thats at least 5 shops that are gonna be affected by this.
Wilkinsons have aquired the store in the Guildhall in Exeter, would think Dawlish is not a big enough town for them and potential sales. We will see.
Thankyou for your reply, I didn't think it would be big enough for them but you never know, I admit we do need something new to go into woolies as soon as possible but I don't want it to be at the cost of other businesses in town. We already have enough empty shops.
I cant think what is best for Woolies. Rates etc are so high and the Internet is here with offers. Wonder if it could be a four shop unit or a indoor market, though that would not go down well with other traders. Rumour was around that Weatherspoons wanted it, again Dawlish is not big enough for them. Iceland bought about 60 Woolies around the country but didnt want to be in Dawlish.. Trouble is whatever anyone opens in any small town the local will think the grass is always greener in larger towns except when its white with snow!
There was a rumour about the Co-Operative extending into it. I was in Moose yesterday and a potential customer came in asking if they sold trousers. The answer was "No, and nowhere in Dawlish does". Surely there's the demand for a half-decent clothing store in town, notwithstanding the fact that Sainsbury has it's own clothing lines.
The Dawlish Trader in the Brunswick had a large selection of men's and ladies wear and after many years of trading recently closed down. Not sure what kind of shops would be successful in Dawlish .
We do need clothing outlets, but I feel the market is cheap and cheerful and targeted at the young, wouldnt it be good if Asda started up small clothing outlets selling their George range, now theres real value for money
