Maybe if you used the theatre for more than just a few poncy shows you might find some talent. Why is it not used for live bands, comedians etc?

Vanguard, you did not stoke a hornets nest, another hornet in the name of David did that. I tried to explain to others why there was no more party in the park and it would appear that I touched a hornets nerve. I enjoyed that day as much as everyone else or I think everyone else enjoyed it, except maybe those that put the event on because it did not turn out quite to their liking. A shop keeper ...
I and a number of other volunteers have been working very hard to make the skate park a reality over many months. Thanks to the votes of the people of Dawlish and the generosity of Dawlish Town Council, we have had the finance in place for some time. The problem is getting through the mass of red tape on such things as public liability insurance, planning consent, legal requirements, and health ...
Agree.... Makes you wonder why we do our utmost to save the planet, only to pass it on to dullards like Cheese!
The front page of this weeks Dawlish Post hails the arrival of Tom Scobie, as the new Town and Villages Reporter of the Dawlish Gazette. At first, this appointment appears innocuous, but closer inspection raises the concerns that council/mayoral reportage may not be impartial. Mr Scobie sat alongside councillor Protheroe on the local council, both of them Lib Dem. Mr Protheroe is now mayor of ...

I thought Waitrose had their sights on Teigmouth.
You could well say the same for Dawlish which seems completely trapped in a time warp. It is quite shocking to travel just 20mins from Exeter and find yourself stepping back 30 years. It is not quaint, its just tat. Most shops and pubs awful, and have you seen the 'restaurants'! Its a great shame as the town should have so much potential. The town is run by those with a vested interest in tourism ...

Tesco has identified a site for a new supermarket in Dawlish after an earlier plan was withdrawn because of local protests. The retailer revealed it had secured land at the Lady's Mile Holiday Park, days after dropping a plan to build a store on a playing field at Sandy Lane, following strong opposition from residents in the South Devon coastal town. A Tesco spokesman said: "We know the ...
Thats been tried but they are all very protective of each other, usually the only way to get a result is if the press get involved.
I took my two children and they loved it. It's great to have something like this in town. I really hope they do well. Food was great with kids in mind. They have thought of everything: microwave for customer use, jars of baby food, staff are really nice and helpful. There is also a party room and the prices are very reasonable. This is the best thing to open in Dawlish for a long time, but I ...
The recent deluge of weather has caused The Brook to burst it banks whilst flood-hit communities in other towns braced themselves for a possible second bout of flash-flooding after more severe weather forecasts. A clean-up operation was under way in Somerset and Devon following the previous night's torrential downpour. Firefighters evacuated homes in the worst-hit areas and hundreds of people ...

Powderham Castle is to lose its licence to host weddings after its owner refused to allow two gay men to hold a civil partnership ceremony there. Lord Devon reportedly said the request for the marriage at Powderham Castle clashed with his religious beliefs. Devon County Council investigated and has said the licence for hosting civil ceremonies will be revoked. The move came after a gay ...
Desperately needed access for emergency vehicles to a tourist mecca is finally to be improved after years of campaigning. Vehicles which need to reach Dawlish Warren in a hurry will now be able to use a workmen's railway crossing after a breakthrough in negotiations between local campaigners and Network Rail. Tall vehicles, such as fire engines, currently cannot reach the Warren because the ...
Mark Stevens has not been seen since May 18th. He sometimes goes by the name of James Sparkes. Police are concerned for Marks welfare. The 33-year-old is white, 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build, he has short brown hair and a fair complexion. At the time Mark went missing it is thought he was wearing a dirty greenish jacket, a red and white Exeter City shirt, black Adidas bottoms and black ...
