I don't really get all this talk about food shortages. First of all - what food will be in short supply and as a lot of our food is imported, does in mean that if we leave, they will stop supplying us. We are always looking for new markets as are other countries. when those other countries found us as a good market, why would they want to give it up? I think a lot of it is scare mongering.

I'd love to read them but I wouldn't have the time what with all the housework and child rearing and cooking and washing and goodness knows what else I'd be having to get through in any one day in 1918.
Any chance I can read these books after working up the chimney.......?

I have a large field of 3 foot high dry grass behind my house. Which the farmer would normally have cut sometime ago, if the airshow had taken place this year, but it did not and he hasn't. I just know there's a good chance of some cretin flicking a fag end whilst walking there dog. If this happens a lot of people's back gardens and sheds are likely to go up as well. I say sad because from my point of view the last 100 years or so has seen a dramatic, if not extinction level, of the countries major industries which competed on the world stage of economics. Nothing to do with Uboats. Everything to do with custom hold ups and subsequent backing up of lorries (both sides of the channel).
