I thought Waitrose had their sights on Teigmouth.
You could well say the same for Dawlish which seems completely trapped in a time warp. It is quite shocking to travel just 20mins from Exeter and find yourself stepping back 30 years. It is not quaint, its just tat. Most shops and pubs awful, and have you seen the 'restaurants'! Its a great shame as the town should have so much potential. The town is run by those with a vested interest in tourism ...

A Tesco spokesman said: "We know the majority ...
Thats been tried but they are all very protective of each other, usually the only way to get a result is if the press get involved.
I took my two children and they loved it. It's great to have something like this in town. I really hope they do well. Food was great with kids in mind. They have thought of everything: microwave for customer use, jars of baby food, staff are really nice and helpful. There is also a party room and the prices are very reasonable. This is the best thing to open in Dawlish for a long time, but I ...
The recent deluge of weather has caused The Brook to burst it banks whilst flood-hit communities in other towns braced themselves for a possible second bout of flash-flooding after more severe weather forecasts. A clean-up operation was under way in Somerset and Devon following the previous night's torrential downpour. Firefighters evacuated homes in the worst-hit areas and hundreds of people woke ...

Powderham Castle is to lose its licence to host weddings after its owner refused to allow two gay men to hold a civil partnership ceremony there. Desperately needed access for emergency vehicles to a tourist mecca is finally to be improved after years of campaigning. Tall vehicles, such as fire engines, currently cannot reach the Warren because the ...

Market and car boot sale at Dawlish Warren this (Bank Holiday) Tuesday. Signs are now back up.
One more thing on this. Why has diesel fuel increased so much in the last few months. About 6 years ago I ran a diesel Mondeo and diesel was the cheapest fuel. Now it has far outstripped leaded and super unleaded. Surely diesel is just a 'heavy oil' and the process to get it to the pumps cannot involve as much refining as both unleaded types? Is it that demand is now just forcing the price per ...
the doctor who found that smoking can cause lung cancer says there is no proof passive smoking harms anyone. I hate the smell of exhaust fumes, alcohol, and all household cleaning products as I have chemical intolerance

Oh Viaduct. I'm not sure anymore whether you actually AGREE with what you write or you just like to be controversial, either way you're not doing yourself any favours. Stick with what you know, mate...
We certainly don't need the new numpty! This Ronnie Corbett lookalike (except not funny), pathetically sitting on a kiddies slide, seems to enjoy having his picture in every local paper. Why doesn't he cut out the middleman and just put up wanted posters around the town instead?!Along with the pictures of the supercilious ex mayoress.
sandy lane? really? never knew it went on so much in Dawlish!! I must say I'm intrigued
As I have placed on another thread. Who engineered giving Dawlish and Dawlish Warren the Blue flag award?
Ho ho ho, Santa here. It wasn't my lunch break, but I had to go and feed the reindeer. Otherwise the RSPCA, 'elf n safety and the European Workplaces Executive would have been down on me like a ton of snowballs. Point taken though. I will arrange a couple of helpers to sort out Rudolf and Co. on December 9th. And don't be silly. There is only one Santa and that's me, so I couldn't get a stand-in, ...
