Busy catching up with the news, I see that one that surprisingly slipped through the net on here is the praise that Wally Protheroe has received for raising over £2000 for charity. I quote: Retired Mayor of Dawlish Wally Protheroe has been praised by a charity for raising more than £2,000. Cllr Protheroe nominated The Helen Foundation as his charity of choice for his year of office. Set up ...
HALF-TERM beach safety at Teignmouth and Dawlish now is the hands of RNLI lifeguard teams. The charity is now providing safety cover at Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren after the service was handed over by Teignbridge Council in March. Teams started on Saturday and are to patrol each beach every day from 10am until 6pm during the half-term school holiday. The lifeguards will patrol the beaches ...
Roy, So you have now moved away from your original comment, and taken it nationally LOL, they may be useful in large towns and cities but have proved useless/unnecessary here in Dawlish
Thank You for your comments. Much appreciated. MARNE (Mike McCabe)
Excellent, Authorburch. Thanks for posting. I won't fall out with you over form or structure. poem link Don

A bit dumb is it not... Seeing as the farmers market is the first Friday of the month... Why is it every body is moaning because Dawlish has nothing and then when it does get something off the ground some one who has not even thought this out decides to put a Craft fair on the same day... It's beyond me how some people think. Quote: "Never under estimate the power of stupid people" Unquote
A dental technician, hoping to sell his home in Devon in an online raffle, has delayed the draw until July. Stephen Sickelmore, 49, and his wife, Caroline, are raffling their seaside home in the hope of raising the £490,000 it was originally on the market for. Tickets cost £25 each, and the winner will also get other benefits including their stamp duty paid, legal fees and a contribution ...
Is Teignbridge DC not our Council? Oh silly me, I forgot that the Electoral Commission has moved us to North Yorkshire...
Roy, Broadly, I agree with you. It is because of the efforts and suffering of those who sought to establish democracy that I am not apathetic. Even now, there are parts of the world where brave people are fighting the same battle. I just do not believe that the structures that we have bear any but the most superficial resemblance to those for which so many have died. Futile though you may think ...
Almost £20,000 will be spent on access to Dawlish Warren to improve safety and encourage visitors to the seaside resort. Whenever the name Protheroe appears and i dont just mean Wally, there is always something underhand going on (very smelly rats)
The fight is on! Now that Estate Agents are suffering so badly, many are turning their attentions to the letting of properties as opposed to selling them - oh dear. Estate agent complaints persist The Ombudsman for Estate Agents has reported a "surprising" workload dealing with complaints despite the property market slump. While activity dropped by as much as 60% in 2008, Christopher Hamer ...

I know that you hate answering questions, but what was this other source that you so mysteriously refer to? Do you agree that this is great news for Dawlish?
A seaside town is to keep its famous black swans after agreeing an action plan to eradicate fears over water pollution. Dawlish Town Council keeps 14 swans on the brook at Brunswick Place, as well as about 50 ornamental waterfowl which are not indigenous to Britain. The swans, which are more commonly found in New Zealand and Australia, and the other birds have proved a lucrative tourist ...
Companies in Devon and Cornwall who promote holiday lets warned the move could see an exodus of properties from the industry – leading to less accommodation for tourists but raising the prospect of some houses which had only been used part-time coming on to the market to become permanent homes once again. How many small Hotels did we once have in Dawlish and are now blocks of flats? Hotels in ...
A drink driver who killed a young Dawlish woman was given a 9-year jail sentence. Paul Cox was twice over the limit, not wearing a seat belt and had just received a text message on his mobile phone. Ms Langton was driving home from work on Thursday November 6th last year when the accident happened. Cox was driving on the wrong side of the A379 at Exminster, instantly killing driver Alison ...
I am replying to my own posting here! Not a bad week-end at all. I see Salamis has closed (won't cry about that) and also the gift shop Inspirations? I think it was called. That had only been opened 3 or 4 years back. Had one take-away from the Chippy on Queen Street but the staff seemed to be at sixes & sevens on that Friday night. Ate at the Witches Bowl on saturday night. To offset the ...
Quite a few years ago every summer a party of Orthodox Jews came to Dawlish and stayed at Ratcliffe School or Oakland Park School. Maybe this is where the Jewish Hostel was sited.
Well put 4549. Perhaps Roy would like to make a comment on the achievement of getting the pavilion at Sandy Lane a Grade 2 listed building. Your councillors should have done that years ago. But no! they were prepared to let the bulldozers in and raise it to the ground. Perhaps Roy would like to bring presure on his councillors, to now bring the building up to a decent state of repair. Well done ...
Give me a shout, I've got a nice 3 bed flat going for a song in Totnes, you could even move in one of Roys Taxis, afterall you hate the place so why not emigrate to Totnes?
Do the drivers of Roys Cabs have to pass a moronic chat test to become one of your ambassadors? If they do then where do I apply...I'm not up to much these days in the world of flogging houses for extortionate rates and given unsuspecting locals a help up the debt ladder. I could always ply my trade in one if your Lada's, flogging some of your idiotic views to unsuspecting lager louts and ...

Please don't be put off by busy-bodies like Viaduct, who will slag off or ignore anything positive that happens in our town. I think Roy you should read your own posts and practice what you preach... Local authorities have a duty to provide open space, leisure and pleasure facilities. As far as I am aware in the last 50 years, Dawlish - one way or another, has destroyed much leisure facilities and it has never been replaced. When there is a demand for allotments, that leisure facility is never met with enthusiasim. Providing allotments, provides no gain (financially) for those with their snout ...
