Hi. I always thought that the brickwork that I believe you're referring to is part of the sea defences and that the bricks were laid to to shore up Langstone Rock. Many years ago, one used to be able to swim through a tunnel underneath the Rock, however that tunnel has long since been bricked up.

Surely the District Council should be asking why that is so, rather than making what seems to me to be a very hasty decision to close it.
