Gooda afternoon all,

Glad to see that your forum is just the same as any other with the ususal moans and groans!!.

I am due in Dawlish in 14 days time and was hoping to get the heads up on few things. Could anybody recommend some good eating and drinking establishements, suitable for families? I hear that Too Delicious and the Witches Bowl are pretty good?

Also, work travels with me unfortunately and I will need to find some spots with WiFi access. Any recomendations??

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi Pompey70,

We found the food at The Ship Inn to be the best around Dawlish - http://jtscatering.com/attheswan.html Their quality homemade food is just the best, and you'll never leave with an empty tummy.

It's a quiet pub, so taking your family won't be a problem. The food is available every day during the summer.

The other places are good, but we continue to go back to the Ship. There's a beer garden out the back and we have taken kids there before and they loved running around in the lawn area out the back.

As for Wi-Fi, sorry, can't help you with that one.

Enjoy your stay

Brilliant, thank you for the swift responses/suggestions

Keep them coming, it's always good to hear it from the locals as oppossed to reports on the internet etc.

The only WiFi spot that I can see mentioned anywhere is at the Mount Pleasant? Not sure if non guests can access this though??

Funny that. All those cafes in Dawlish yet not one of the internet variety.

Hadn't thought of it before, being as how I live here, but have to say that whenever we go on holiday, even when we go abroad, access to the internet at our holiday accommodation let alone the town is an absolute must.

So, just out of interest where, in Dawlish/Dawlish Warren, would I be able to book holiday accommodation with internet access or, failing that, find somewhere where I could log on?

Wifi is available for free in the Town Library! You will however have to pay £1 If you wish to use a power point!

I think i remember seeing a sign for Oakcliffe holiday park, that mentioned wifi.

As for meals , most places are pretty good. Only place i wouldnt touch with a barge pole is Baileys. In Dawlish Warren , the 2 places that are family friendly are The Welcome and The Boathouse.

Why not try the Railway Inn just up from the Exeter on the opposite side. They do really good home cooked food at a very reasonable price. Two courses for £4.50 during the week. Family friendly also.
