I am not a dog owner so may sound biased but for good reason.I walked across the park to the right of St.Gregorys' church Today and saw 6,(yes 6) dogs running free across the lawn area while the owners congregated at a distance chatting. Now there is clearly signs situated at both ends stating, "Dogs must be kept on leads and must only use the paths.!" All around the area especially the pathway edges were dog poops! Because of these selfish dog owners all dogs get tarnished as a result. I'm sure the owners will all say they clear up after their pets but someone is allowing it! This area is obviously an open park suitable for picnics etc for families and kids, but these dog owners think otherwise showing total contempt for the council and others who may wish to use it! I'm sorry to sound off but I was shocked to see six dogs running around in a pack totally out of voice control from their respective owners while they huddle together smoking their lungs away at one end of the field. Be interesting to see what others think of this view or think that the signs should be pulled down dogs allowed to do as they please in all parks etc!

To add to the above "selfish dog owners", last June I was at "boat Cove" .To the left of the boats was a woman with two small children and a large buggy. A large dog trotted ovre to where she was sitting, sniffing the children distresing the woman. The dog then cocked its' leg up and urinated down the side of the pushchair buggy and trotted off.I shouted at the dog and then saw the owner walking away where the dog followed with not an apology other than"she wont hurt you !". The woman was most upset and I was very close to punching the selfish owner with a dog obviously "not in proper control". I thought what is the point of getting angry as I cannot take on the hundreds of dog owners who show simmilar contempt for others including the law.For starters, the sea wall says dogs must be on leads for obvious reasons but rarely do I see one as most are allowed to run well ahead of the owner along the sea wall. This can be intimdating for the elderly and can easily cause an older person to fall off the wall when a large dog comes running up. On another occation I had a large dog run up to me and my wife barking while at Coryton Beach.Thw owner said "stand still and he wont hurt you!" What????? What's that supposed to mean?Does the dog owner think that all humans have no rights and must "freeze"when their out of control dog decides to run at other people? another selfish owner that is tarnishing all the decent owners with the same brush!!

Well said.

Dog owners are a law unto themselves.

Someone down my road lets their dogs bark all the time and they are a pain in the backside.

No thought about destroying the peace of others, let alone about treading in the mess that they leave behind.

Just go for a walk anywhere and look in hedgerows. What do you see? Dog Poo bags thrown away.

Bring back the dog license and charge £200 per year for each 'crap machine' that these selfish idiots own, then we will see exactly how much they love their animals.

Before the howl of disapproval, concessions for the elderly, and blind dont pay.

Why should the elderly get a concession , thier dogs poo just as much.

If a dog is barking all the while then report it to the council. they will write to the owner. If you see the same owner letting its dog poo everywhere then take a picture and take a walk to the local police tea and shower room and report it.

Why not be a lazy dog owner and get yourself a cat.

@b.o.liking

The new generation of cats are a nuisance they don't dig a hole poo and bury it, they poo anywhere and leave it.

Dear Ziggy

Point I was making that cat owners give up their responsibility once the cat flap opens and its ar-e is skidding across my lawn.

It seems the owners get the love we get the c--p.

Why are you wanting to persecute dog owners with such a rediculous TAX. It seems to me that you are over-reacting and turning a mountain into a mole hill.

If that is your reasoning, why not bring back the Radio License, and then maybe we could think about having a tax on people who moan.

My point here is that just using a stick all the time is boring and achieves nothing, other than to alienate those you should be trying to get on your side. Dog owners by the way are HUMAN beings and deserve a fair hearing.

Maybe instead of moaning about it, you could propose that the council spend some of your hard earned cash on employing someone to patrol the parks and pavements, clearing things up and making it a green and pleasant land again.

I have just read about the moaner who thought that we had a new generation of lout cats, that spitfully go out of their way to make your life a misery, and have obviously got together and ganged up against you personally.

How inconsiderate of them. I blame the owners for teaching their cats not to dig a nice deep whole to go for their ablutions.
