Sorry Carer, I obviously misinterpreted what you meant, so I unreservedly apologise. I guess my brain has been tuned into thinking that everyone on here is filled with negativity and that you were putting people off with your innocent comment. As Cilla says, I may come across as being smug on here, but in the real world I'm not - well at least I hope not lol! I merely get riled at those that talk ...

It was £25k a couple of years ago - they had extra from the sale of Exeter Airport. I think it's great that Cllrs can target local groups/projects that need help without the groups having to jump through hoops to get the money. District Cllrs have an allowance too - I think £1500 (from memory).
John Clatworthy could have a busy time then

No problem, the cost - as I dont think i made it clear - the £25 per hour would have to be paid by the person who requested the information.
It was good to see the latest two cygnets being cared for in the bird pen today. That's four this year that should grow to adulthood and grace our town for years to come.
About time we had a local Tesco and Sainsburys, costing too much in petrol to travel to Newton Abbot these days, as we are having Sainsburys it will make no difference if we also have Tesco, so let's hope for us customers we do get a choice of both. Be nice if we also had a Lidl nearby.
so the police seen the cctv tho right? drove past south about 10min ago was blue saxo outside chippy, maybe they something to do with the place and is why u cant see the footage. hope you resolve this, they clearly are wronguns
seems like we are going to have a by election see item 3 on the Town Council agenda for 9th June http://www.dawlish.gov.uk/meetings.php
They do not seem to be Police anymore., as proven by the actual crime investigation figures reported in the local press only recently. What they do seem to do extremely well however is collect stealth tax on behalf of the government agencies like DVLA , VOSA etc with the average motorist being the usual easy target. One example of this is how the government enforced spending cuts mean fewer ...

A HIGH dependency Dawlish care home has been put on the market for £850,000 four weeks after it went into administration. Holcombe Hall Nursing Home Ltd, which cares for 24 residents with dementia and mental health problems, announced it was closing a week ago after attempts to place it under new management failed to materialise. Families now have until Monday June 20 to find alternative ...
I agree with MugOnHead. You should be allowed to park where you like, when you like and for free. :-)
Many congratulations to the members of the Dawlish Royal British Legion for organising the most fantastic day yesterday, the Party in the Park. The whole day was most enjoyable. I would also like to congratulate the legion members who done a fantastic job on clearing the lawn this morning. I walked past just before 8am, and the whole of the lawn was scattered with litter and glass, but the small ...
Give New Dawn a ring, they`ve always got lots of properties.
Correction! Dawlish Warren used to be a pristine, natural, and enjoyable place to be. To walk on the extensive beach and enjoy the solitude was one of life's blessings. However, to see the devestation that has taken hold of The Warren, the hot dog stands, the multiple dogbox shacks, the caravans with their multitudes of the great unwashed, all polluting thisonce beautiful area, brings tears to ...

A bewildered deer became separated from its herd and deceided to do a bit of shopping in Stokes fruit and veg shop in The Strand Dawlish. It was a shock for customers who first thought it was a dog, but quickly realized it was a bit too big and boisterous. The RSPCA were called and the deer was taken away to be released back into the wild.
Nope looks like you can only take their eggs, apparently they are an endagered species http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/Images/wml-gl05_tcm6-24150.pdf
Dawlish Warren has gained the prestigious Blue flag award for the 13th year. Tory Tessa Lawson resigned her position just hours after signing her Declaration of Acceptance of Office. It is believed personal circumstances led to her decision. Dawlish Town Council clerk John Winchester confirmed an election had been declared following Mra Lawson's resignation. If 10 electors of the ward make representations to the returning office, a by-election is likely to be held within ...
Completely agree with JW. Was good to see again this morning that comb-over man from the council was clearing some of the flotsam at Red Rock Beach. Top man. Pity about the cafe owners disinterest though.
Police are urging drivers not to leave anything inside their vehicles after a significant spike in auto-crime. Insp Chris Shaw said "The problem has been exacerbrated by members of the plubic leaving vehicles unlocked and leaving valuable items on display in their vehicles overnight" He went on to say "You need to remember to lock your vehicles at night even if on your drives and ensure nothing of ...
Appreciate this is not my argument but just out of interest @ J. Warrener how much tax payers money have Devon County Council spent on using the so called Devon camera Partnership (or should that be the private company based in Salford Greater Manchester) and the Police or NCP to enforce illegal parking restrictions, incorrect speed limits, incorrectly signed and marked roads etc. Please remember ...
Dawlish Blue, your missing the point .Council employees arent funding our travel to work where as WE are funding thiers.
I used to regularly go and play the pitch and putt. Run properly it could be a good money earner. Only time i head up thier now is to watch Dawlish Town
@wondering Crediton way to Plymouth. Okehampton etc. I think, long term, that is what will happen BUT to state the obvious, it cannot happen until that line is (re)built so until that happens train companies have to use the Dawlish line as there is no other option.
A retired heating engineer from Dawlish died after eating a gel sachet used in urin bottles. The 88 year-old was admitted to Dawlish hospital from his home in Holman Close. He ingested the sachet while in Dawlish hospital. He was treated immediately and then transferred to Torbay hospital where he died the same day. A full inquest will be heard at a later date.

Mug I wrote to her through http://www.writetothem.com and got a response. Admittedly not the one I wanted but a detailed response nonetheless!
I would like to convey my thanks to all who attend the exhibition at Dawlish RBL last Saturday 30th April, and especially the Framing Lot and Lloyd Maunder for their support. A total of £37:50 was raised which will be going to the annual Poppy Appeal. The Photography Section meet every Wednesday at 7pm , except the 18th May, and new members are welcome, especially beginners, so why not come along ...
I was being facetious about Mr Winchester's official position... ;-) Good luck to the new IVFD councillors - I hope that they talk with the citizens they represent - rather than talk down to them as a lot of the self-proclaimed elite in this town have a habit of doing. Welcome to the 21st century, Dawlishians!!!!
Thank you Vanguard - Mr Vickery for taking the time to reply. I apologise for not responding to you sooner, life and family have a habit of taking over at times! I responded to Mr Clayson before I saw this and I hope you read my reply to him too. I've read your response and I agree with some of what you have said, not all, but enough to feel there is some common ground. This is obviously too late ...
Thank you Mr Clayson for taking the time to reply, eventually. My turn - I hoped to start a debate possibly involving several members of this forum, I hoped for some genuine feedback, I had genuine questions that I would have liked answered. Maybe my style of posting is too flippant and that didn't really come over - but that's my style and I'm sticking to it! One of the beauties of internet ...
Supermarket giant Tesco's inquiry into it's store at the Exeter Road, Dawlish site will resume on Tuesday May 17th at 10am in Teignbridge Council Offices, Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot. The inquiry initially opened in October but was adjourned after it overran. It was re scheduled for December for 3 days but was adjourned because of the cold weather snap. It is thought the planners will ...
Dawlish is among 17 areas to be given more power over what can be built and where. It's part of a pilot scheme to test the goverment's proposed radical shake-up of the planning system.
