Whilst we are blessed to live in such a beautiful area, everyone needs a holiday away from home now and again. What's your choice of destination? The question also applies to those who have recently returned from holiday, such as Cosey 'and' Jools88.

Somewhere as unlike Dawlish Warren as possible - it's my idea of hell!

I range far and near

To towns that Spring leaves untouched.

I miss sea mews' shrieks.

I stay here in Dawlish. I used to lie to work colleagues when they asked if I was going anywhere nice and say I was looking for a last minute deal even though my plans were to do sweet FA.

Eventually I realised most of my work colleagues were doing the same as me. Why, when you finally get some time off to enjoy the place you live in, go somewhere else? It doesn't make sense.

In summer, if the weather's nice, there's nowhere better than Dawlish Warren beach for keeping the kids amused all day - you don't need to run the gauntlet of airports, queues, etc. But only, of course, if you get fine weather - nothing worse than huddling together on a freezing cold beach. Also, of course, you need to take your own food as the takeaway food is rubbish and the service is dead slow. Also take plenty of drinks.
