@Dawlish Man . i believe that it was due to staffing problems and something to do with the chap who was the manager (not mr baker)leaving. that is what i have heard, so it may not be gospel.
Yes .. good point to mentiom when they call for your vote! If you believe the refuse truck will not get through and so your road not ckeared, tell Teidnmouth DC and they will tell the Police to sort it.
If all the Estate Agents and Charity shops closed, ..who would take their place? Teignmouth is different to Dawlish.
Some of you may have received the following: Latest News about The Manor House Dawlish Town Council were challenged under Freedom of Information rules to provide copies of any structural and valuation surveys they commissioned on 34 Park Road before they bought it. They were also asked how much they spent on these surveys. Their answer? "Nothing on File" The Town Council appear to have bought 34 ...
Is it true that this is going to be knocked down and turned into apartments? What with Lee's Bar soon to disappear, that would leave the Welcome Inn, Boathouse and the Mount Pleasant as the only pubs in the Warren.

Hey Dave. Check out my reply to your other post.
How much did they pay this elderly landowner?
Twas a shame that the advertised start of 1.00pm was changed to 2.00pm, especialy considering how cold it was at times. There may not have been a huge turn out, but quality is always better than quantity.
You have to agree though that it is a bit smelly down Old Town Street.
Why worry about Wilkinsons being the cause of some shop closures when Tesco/Sainsburys will be the cause of ALL the shops closing.
At a supermarket BUT I do my odds and ends shop at local stores. If I stop using the local stores for odds and ends and go to the new supermarket and other people do likewise then that will work out to be a lot of custom the local shops will lose. Then there is the tourist custom to consider. Instead of doing their supermarket shop at Gerald's supermarket at the Warren and getting their bread from ...
It's a shame that I have to be at work. Thanks for the info Lynne.
Can you be clearer about your information? Who has informed you? Which Council? Who classified it as redundant land? When did Tesco make their offer, and to whom? Did you attend the meeting some three years ago in the Community College hall when Alan Connett said that Sandy Lane was not up for sale? He hasn't yet changed his tune and he is Leader of TDC.
Because that wont make people rich wasting tax payers money on Quangos and facility coordination officers and is far to much common sense, just like scooping at low tide and bulldozing it on the top.
It does not have to have flooded previously to become a designated flood plain.
no offence taken, was not meaning to make a point forgot I had caps on!!!!! lol
The excellent link provided by Wild Ash a few days ago included a map showing the erosion over the period 1851 - 1962. link repeated I know that Dawlish Man read the document but, much to my amazement, I discovered that I could post the map here for other forum users. Those seriously interested really should read the sections from about halfway down the page covering the erosion, previous storm ...
We moved here 15 months ago and hope never to leave. It has it's bad points, doesn't everywhere? But the good points far outweigh them
The conundrum could be solved by asking him, politely, of course.
The only way is DNA. All dogs could be licensed, micro-chipped and DNA profiled. Any poop can then be traced back to those responsible. This has already been trialled by cities in America, Canada, Germany and Israel. Expensive, but could be funded by fines, and the required yearly license.
It is my belief that it is being converted to flats.
The Easter Bunny is a little sad this Easter and really needs your help. The bunny has lost all their eggs. In order to help you must visit shops and businesses throughout Dawlish and find the Easter Bunny's eggs hidden in the shop windows. You must write down how many eggs are in each shop window and add them all up to find out how many eggs the bunny has lost all together. Winners to be ...

Not even an up to date map...
Depends on the reasons for doing it I think, but it's a sad reflection on our society if it's done from necessity.

Er, thanks Donald, I'll bear that in mind in future. My birthday is on the aptly-named glorious 12th. MATRON!!!
Sorry don't understand what you mean? Do you want to elaborate?.......
If it goes broke you'd get it for the rent only, unless it's making a killing that is...
If 86.36% of the people dont give a sh*t about the Manor, they should of got off their backsides and voted then. And as for the people in favor of saving the manor are having their rent and council tax paid for is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. If you have lived in Dawlish for as long as myself you should realise how getting rid of the few remaining original parts of Dawlish is leaving ...
Amazing really????? Years ago I remember moaning and complaints against Dawlish Youth Club when it was at the LL Centre on Old School Hill. However, it was contained and the Youth Leaders seemed to work hard with the local police to stop drink & drugs (although this was always tough to do - it didn't seem half as bad) that was shut, because as I remember the Youth Leader struggled to get support ...
its good to hear that you will be standing next time .You"ll get my vote
Dawlish Carnival will again stage the annual celebrations. Rumors that the carnival might not go ahead have been dispelled. It is said " the resort will again stage the annual celebrations, including the air show. For further information go to www.dawlishcarnival.com
I went about 11am, you could make a vote for or against Sainsburys, placed in a box. People were filling in feedback forms, looked like long essays! One of the Reps said, the Council will decide in 4 weeks and if in favour they will start build in May, to open in 12 months time. Hope that helps.
The strand is to receive £1.5 million from Devon County Council towards a much needed facelift as part of the regeneration of Dawlish. Engineers will be preparing options and taking soundings so that there is a concensus and completion is planned for 2012/13. There'll obviously be some match funding needed from Teignbridge and Dawlish. It has also been revealed, that after the completion of the ...
