A watchdog committee set up by Teignbridge Council has recommended that the Leisure Centre at Sandy Lane could benefit from a rethink about how its internal spaces are used. Happy New Year. I hope you enjoyed the Dawlish bank holiday sunshine - I did! A lovely walk around the town, a bite to eat in the Strand Cafe, a stroll down to Coryton Cove (very sandy again) and then popped into 1 or 2 shops. Back to reality and increased train fares tomorrow!

More than £400,000 is being spent on repairing flood defences which protect homes along a Devon estuary. A 200m stretch of defences is being repaired at Dawlish Warren by the Environment Agency. The difference between Alphington and Dawlish is 4p a litre , yet they are bought for the same price , so everytime you fill up at Sainsburys Dawlish they are sticking two fingers up to you and ripping you off. There's now a sign at the cashpoint saying that it's currently out of use. The one at the Co-op is working.
