The first neighbourhood plan is due to be submitted for independent examination later this month. The Dawlish Parish Neighbourhood Plan will be examined by an inspector on 23rd and 24th April. The Plan has been drawn up by a steering group of local representatives and aims to set out the local community's planning vision for the development of Dawlish Parish over the next 20 years. "Positive ...
Does anyone know which mobile phone network operates the best service in terms of reception at Dawlish Warren. My current provider is terrible (Virgin) and I know 3 doesn't work very well from personal experience...
The Western Morning News seems none too happy about this pasty tax. http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/WMN-opinion-Osborne-wrong-tax-hot-pasty/story-15771545-detail/story.html
Wetherspoons has ambitious plans for 1600 outlets and they are targeting smaller towns, alarming local pub and cafe owners - but competition is great for the customer! Most villages and small towns would welcome Wetherspoons with open arms - but with this town being so short sighted and little minded - i doubt they would have the courage to stand up to the bullying tactics that are used by ...
Yes, Cassandra, I totally agree with you about the nonsense of needing to travel to Exeter, N.Abb and Torquay in order to see a film/go bowling and it is especially nonsencial when we hear so much about having 'green', sustainable communities. I am sure I am not the only one whose teenager regular travels up to Exeter to see a film. Wouldn't it be nice if they didn't have to do that? Here is an ...
Shane Hobbs, of Dawlish Warren, Devon, was jailed for 16 months after admitting sexual assault on one woman and common assault on a second during the incident in February, this year. Hobbs, 26, was captured on CCTV laughing as he walked away from his shocked victim after thrusting his fist down her trousers. Cameras followed Hobbs as he staggered through Exeter city centre lunging and fondling ...
@The Quiet Dragon - great. I see from that link in your first posting above that some comments concerning Dawlish were put on the Portas website yesterday. But since then nothing. Let's hope some more postings get made now that details of the website have gone out via fb.
@Philip and no need to apologise to me either.
and here they are again but put, I think, in an easier way to read. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/apr/05/how-budget-changes-take-effect
Any idea what's happening with the empty ex Deli and Cafe' on the Strand?
When we moved into Dawlish seven years ago, the best advice we received was from June Chaplin who, at the time, lived next door to our son with whom we were staying whilst house hunting. She said we must join Dawlish Third Age as we needed friends of our own age group as well as our son and his lovely family. And now, guess what, we know half of Dawlish. It's great we can hardly walk into Dawlish ...
@bryony Good post. According to the politicians the unemployed fall into two categories: Those who are unable to work because of sickness or disability. On this basis, one might imagine that they are also unable to carry out much voluntary work. Those who are job seekers. They are supposed to spend their time demonstrably seeking work and should not have much time left over for voluntary work. Don
Sounds as if she really shouldn't have been out at that time of night in such a dangerous location. Fortunately, it all ended well. Once again we have to thank the emergency services who did a wonderful job.
10am. If you're quick you might just catch the crusade knight complete with chain mail and wooden horse who should just be reaching Dawlish town centre. He is walking from Lands End to Poland, raising money for one of the Armed Forces charities. He looked tired when I passed him so am sure he'd appreciate more words of encouragement and a donation to his collection box.
Were Dawlish's cctv cameras working?
Was I the only one scraping the frost from their car windscreen at 6.30 this morning? Global warming is about the long term climate, not short term fluctuations but have you not seen the weather forecast? I'm dreaming of a White Easter...
Dawlish was cordoned off for several hours yesterday (Sunday 1st April) after a black briefcase was left outside of the Natwest Bank, Brookdale Terrace. Traffic was prevented from coming in and out of Dawlish and trains were delayed after the bomb disposal squad was called in from Devonport. A large number of local residents came down to watch as a remote controlled robot was used to examine the ...
@TheWhoSeeker the photo i saw showed it outside the natwest bank not at the railway station. @neilh lol.
Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me, my grandparents lived in dawlish, i never met them and very sorry for that, i think they have both died now, i was hoping someone may have known them, or could let me know if they have relatives that still live in dawlish, this is all i know... there last name was Perry, and they had a daughter Denise, its them i would like to know more on, not denise. ...
Eyes of Dawlish saying that it's all been due to a suspicious package being left outside by the ATM at Nat. West. in the town. Buildings nearby have been evacuated. Trains held up at Dawlish Warren and I imagine the same at Teignmouth.(imagine the knock on affect on the rail timetable). Air ambulance has now left Dawlish (watched it leave Sandy Lane) so perhaps now all sorted out?
The alleged sexual assault happened on Tuesday March 20th between about 1pm and 2pm near the bird sanctuary area of Dawlish Warren beach. Police are keen to speak to or identify four men all dressed in black and may have been in the company of a teenage girl. 1) A white man about 5ft 8ins in height aged about 40 to 50 and had an Irish accent. 2) A white man tall and skinny mid twenties. 3) A white ...

Aren't the Police, SAR and Coastguard Service subject to public sector cuts/privatisation?
Yes, it's a shame that the new councillors are too young to be retired and therefore were unable to participate in the video that was filmed during the working week!!! So, ShePerez, which one were you in the video?? LOL.
Lynne's spot on. C&J Fashions are opening up in that part of Costcutters. Rest assured that it's business as usual for Costcutters.
If you,or anyone you know, has received a letter saying that you/they are no longer eligible for these tax credits then please take a look at the info in this link.- coz that info might be wrong! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17567679
Tracy, when I lived up nearer "Seven Sisters", they were in my garden. A few years back the RSPB used to organise walks in the general area in order to spot them. I live nearer town now & haven't seen any for several years. Don't want to be too specific about the area - as you say, there are a few stupid people around. Again, as you say this is part of the area that Teignbridge now want to develop ...
You are right Nelson . it would not take much to make it look nice.
Watchdog confirms "private parking companies" cannot fine you only courts can.
Has anyone run the Haldon Heartbeat before? 9 mile charity run through Haldon Forest on 28 April. Just wondering how easy/difficult a course it is.
You can't recognise it easily. Even those with training in breed identification often struggle to pick out the breeds of mixed dogs. You can, however, do a DNA test - something that the RSPCA are considering on some dogs in their care.
Spot on. Unbeatable! It was lovely on Sunday to see so many families enjoying themselves on the beach at Dawlish.
Just had an e-mail in from TDC to say that they have now checked their records re the 'missing' letter and it does indeed seem to be the case that they didn't send one out to me and about 20 other people as well. Letters, by 1st class post, are now on their way to all who were left out.
If you read the Gazette you'll see on page 3 of this week's edition an article about the Dawlish Portas Pilot Bid. At the bottom of the article there is a request that we should show our individual support for the bid by emailing the TDC Economy and Regeneration Officer, Naomi Harnett email economyandtourism@teignbridge.gov. uk As the bid has to be submitted this Friday I'd suggest we get emailing ...
Thanks folks fo acting on that prompt. Lynne was not the only one to try a polite (?) letter to TDC and I think that waiting time is over. I will raise this with the relevant committee of the Town Council but not this week because the important people are working very hard to ensure the assets go back to TDC on 1st April so that we can redirect the Parish Precept to more effect. I will also try to ...
