A Plymouth-based train driver has won a European transport photography competition for his stunning photograph of a passenger train in Dawlish.
Chris Hopkins of CrossCountry has won the Arriva Photo of the Year 2012 award for his dramatic image of a Voyager 220 at Coryton Cove.
His image of the CrossCountry train nestled in between the magnificent red cliffs of Dawlish was judged alongside other finalists’ images from across the Arriva group for the annual award. His eye for a picture has netted him a total of £800 in prizes from Arriva’s photo competition this year.
Chris, aged 43, who lives in Plymouth, said: “It was warm summer morning and the coastal landscape at Dawlish is very dramatic so I decided to head out for a walk along the coast to take some pictures. Most of the day the tide hampers access to the end of the beach in the shot, but I was lucky enough to time it perfectly when the tide was low enough.”
