Does anyone out there have contacts in the community, or point me in the right direction, for a Chef (namely me) that would be interested in starting some community cooking classes? (volunteering my time for free of course). I am thinking maybe school, community group, church group etc that would be interested in weekly, fortnightly or monthly cooking classes. Maybe "cooking on a budget", "cooking something special from nothing", "cooking for kids" etc.

And/Or ..... If you are or know owners of local eateries, that might be in need of / interested in, an on call chef (paid position), covering when staff fall sick etc? Or maybe in need of an experienced cooking demonstrator for local produce at local events? Or maybe in need of an experienced catering consultant to revamp menus, recipes, help train staff etc? Or maybe someone might need a private chef for the night for a special occasion? Or maybe would like private cooking classes in thier own home with friends?

The easy life of semi retirement not agreeing with me and I need to get involved and get back into a kitchen (=[:-D

Suggest you contact the Dawlish Gazette they might do an article? Or you do a press release/letter to them?

Might be worth contacting Red Rock.  They have the facilities there and did do a trial of evening classes which seem to have gone quiet.

Contact details can be found at - http://www.dawlishaction4youth.btck.co.uk/RedRockYouthCentre

I'm always looking for a 'bank' chef to cover holidays' sickness etc. Cooking for 20 odd pers. We don't have brilliant rates of pay though.

@flo - have contacted, so will keep you posted

Ooooops again - cancel that. Thier website message service wont let me submit my message. Hmmmm, I wonder if they realise why they don't get any emails via thier website?

Hi as we discussed whilst fishing, I am more than happy to offer your services to our (self catering) guests.

If you can come up with a flyer or price list we will email all guests prior to arrival and leave a leaflet in their log cabin.

Please do bear in mind they are generally very well off people, I would think £150 for either a demo or for you to prepare & cook would be reasonable.

You could try Cofton as I understand they have a really good chef but he only works 3 days a week (his choice) they are open 50 weeks.

Hi Chef

I will phone you after 2 p.m. to discuss further.

This could be interesting for both of us as we may be able to offer you a venue for your classes also - dependent on what you would require.

Speak later.
