The £1.5m regeneration scheme for The Strand gets under way on January 21st.
The scheme will include widening the pavement, new street furniture, lighting and parking along one side of the road only.
The scheme is being jointly financed by Devon County Council, Teignbridge Council and Dawlish Town Council.
The stone wall between The Strand and Lawn will be removed, the concrete shelter facing the bowling green will be demolished.
Raised crossing areas will be provided along the street as a traffic calming measure and to create safe and defined areas for pedestrians to cross. High quality natural York stone slabs and granite kerbs will be used on the footpaths.
The work will start on January 21st and is due to be completed by the beginning of May.

@Brazilnut.Underneath the trees.Or if they don`nt want to stand,In the other shelters,by the tourist information office.
It's rather disappointing that there is a three week delay to the project before they have even started. It frustrates me that the council(s) can't keep the public properly informed as to why this is delayed. Giving proper information wouldn't have cost them much more than an advert in the gazette would it?
