Did you buy your slush puppie from one of the fair wagons? If so just remember when you take your children to see Farther Christmas at the Christmas Market in the Strand and they get a free toy donated by David Rowland you would have paid for it via your slush puppie.

What a shame that NONE of those who made a speech at the carnival opening yesterday had the decency to mention the passing of Helen Humphries, who in recent years, was probably the best Mayor that Dawlish has had.

If you like art there's an amazing exhibition on in St Michaels Church (Teignmouth) until 12th August. Some really powerful pieces. Reason I've posted here is that there's a piece called "Walls" which is of Dawlish sea front and the beauty of Lyme Bay. You'll have to see it to understand the sub-caption which is "So why do people choose the captivity of TV?" If you don't know Teignmouth well ...
Also there's a blue moon this month - 31st August. I think the last one was about 3 years ago. So for all those without a love of your own, keep watching ..........

AN unnanounced Ofsted inspection has given Dawlish Leisure Centre’s childcare service a ‘good’ rating in 16 out of 17 categories, with a special ‘outstanding’ rating given for its partnership work. In July the leisure centre welcomed a surprise Ofsted inspection, as members came to rate the centre’s holiday play schemes for young children. The centre has been working hard to achieve good grades ...
as I understand it, it is a residence built to look like a signal box. see wikipedia: " From 1974 to 1984 the buildings on the Up side housed the Dawlish Warren Railway Museum with its model railway. This building too burnt down in 2003, but in 2007 a new residential building was built on the site which is outwardly the same design as the former Dawlish Warren signal box. This had been located at ...
Yes, well spotted - looks like a spoof!! But who would plant a butterfly like this in the middle of nowhere?
I think Paul and his wife most probably know all this, but in todays world you have to do all sorts of checks with agents to get a sniff of a property. This is why he his trying the direct approach as my brother did, but the only way you find these places is through word of mouth
The maths is correct. The Strongvox site plan shows a total of 30 affordable homes (may be 31 if I miscounted), whilst Sovereign Living's website is showing 5 shared ownership homes still available (there must have been 15 originally available, as 10 have been snapped up).
Not sure what purpose was served by posting this at 8.20pm!!! The road was clear by 5.45pm!!! I really hope though that the mess left behind by the torrent is cleared up sooner rather than later.

As I've just posted something about rail way journeys on another thread I just thought I'd remind those of us lucky enough to live here that we can buy a Devon and Cornwall Railcard for just £10.00 per year and then we can get a third off the price of off peak rail travel as long as it is within those two counties. Cost me all of £2.60 with a D&C card to do a return Dawlish/Exeter Central trip the ...

On one of the far flung Scottish islands (can't remember which one) Gannets are the local delicacy - I think they are equally difficult to prepare and also involve some risk to life and limb in catching them.
I wonder what Coroebus would have thought about the disqualified badminton players today - not Olympian spirit.
