BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

Some people liked Margaret Thatcher

Some people didn't

Some people agreed with some or all of the things she did and said

Some people disagreed with some or all of the things she did and said

Those that liked her, won't change their opinions

Those that didn't like her, won't change their opinions

We all see this from our own personal viewpoint - in other words how much we or those we know were affected by what she did or didn't do and our political preferences

Does that pretty much sum it up?

I know we can all spend the next 10 years dragging up every quote, situation and opinion on her life, but really the woman is dead now, no-one felt the need for all this outpouring on this forum before last Monday but we've had threads on very little else since then and I don't think anyone has changed how they felt before all this started, so maybe now is time to call a halt to it all and get back to posting things that are more about Dawlish.

My opinion obviously and no doubt it will be disagreed with, but I hope not too much.

"no-one felt the need for all this outpouring on this forum before last Monday"

True. And I've been thinking to myself and trying to analyse why her death has caused such outpourings not only on here but on forums and in newspapers etc throughout the country.

Might it be because people have long memories and her death has acted like some bursting of a metaphorical boil that has for some 30 years or so been seething with people's personal memories of what it was like to be on the wrond end of her policies?

I certainly won't be watching her funeral but only because I shall be at work all day earning a living to pay my bills and I've also done my best to avoid the news on the TV this last week too (actually I do that a lot of weeks and I've stopped buying anything other than a local paper because it is same old same old over and over again).  It is a shame that despite my hopes the first post in reply brought up even more of the same, but then I think I did sort of expect that.

So I will repeat thoughts in the hope that peole get it this time - enough is enough, let is go, move on, talk about something else, you are never going to change people's opinions from one point of view to another, we get how you feel about it, you don't need to say the same thing in a million different ways because it does change how you feel and it won't change how anyone else does either, enough, cease, finish, done - please!!!!!!
