Landowner Devon Swan Holidays is looking to submit an application for outline planning permission for 250 houses on the land at Gatehouse Farm. The plans include a new link road, a percentage of affordable houses and other community infrastructures such as allotments and an orchard. News of the plans comes just weeks after a planning application for 350 homes at Shutterton Park was submitted ...
On one of the far flung Scottish islands (can't remember which one) Gannets are the local delicacy - I think they are equally difficult to prepare and also involve some risk to life and limb in catching them.
I wonder what Coroebus would have thought about the disqualified badminton players today - not Olympian spirit.

Thank you Lynne. We need to be reminded every now & then what a truly beautiful part of the country we live in & how lucky we are to be here.
Happy Birthweek Chef,.......... must have been a bit of a trial for mum!
Thanks for that Lynn. I hadn't recieved a copy, so most helpful. I for one appreciate your marketing of Dawlish, keep it up :-D
Thanks Lynn, great marketing :-)
I would do, but I'd rather be Spartan with my explanation.......
User I think though is confused, I though not thee one whom posted your quotation, nor am I aware of it's consequence. My posts are meant to be light hearted, I am so sorry that you do not follow my humour. If you look closely you will see that myself and nelson have different personalities, I've not had the pleasure of Andy Mac so unable to comment I don't think wriggler and nelson ...
Hi, Brazilnut, I am surprised you didn't know you had such a talent in the area (I personally thought when I first saw his name that he was an imposter, not in a bad way, I thought it good that he looked up to Chef Tallyrand, I believe I have since discovered that this man is the real thing, and that he not only is happy to meet me, he is actually humble enough to share coffee with me) ...
Wow thanks wriggler, they said it was due to floods, I did question this and asked for the details of how many areas had been struck with 16' high floods to which the chap seemed rather puzzled (I think my sense of humour is wasted on so many), I suggested we went to an alternative provider, he thus told me that all provider are obliged to use openzone engineers thus the timescale being the same. ...
@neilh - nice one! that is brilliant :-) A man after my own heart, I love food related literature ..... Poems and fictional novels. As to history, I devour anything ancient, as in Egyptology, Crusades and Asia (great tv document last night on Tutenkamen) And as you say, when the three collide, all the better. But any mix of the three suits me. I completed a great degree of research many ...
Lost keys (house and car on a small bunch). Somewhere around/between the leisure centre and the dog beach by Rockstone. £10 reward or charity donation if found. You can contact me here, Eyes of Dawlish, or in the library. Thanks Joanne
No, I'm not being personal! However today I've discovered that there's a colour called Dawlish Plum. So has Dawlish in the past been famous for its plums? Of the fruit kind of course.
You could try D&S Sewing machines in Newton Abbot, I think they used to run classes on Saturday mornings for sewing machine beginners. Their website is http://www.dandssewingmachines.co.uk/ They are near the train station.
The only people who know what Cofton needs are the owners, they are clearly not going to invest many thousands of pounds into developments that customers don't want. More space and facilities were clearly needed as the previous posts say, being overcrowded is not good for repeat business.
Or maybe not then. They're quick to criticise but slow to praise, as per usual.
@ZIGGY - my guests certainly loved them and have left with a "doggy bag" along with some of the home made jam :-) As with most things it's all about, practice, practice, practice & experience. As I always tell my trainees, as they often swear I am using a different recipe or doing something "extra" that I wasn't sharing with them! (and I mean for any recipe) ..... "for every stage in any ...
@Paul - Hi Paul, only just noticed the photos that you posted (usually i get an email when someone has posted something) GREAT stuff !! Not sure if it was my recipe that inspired you to make your own or not, but either way its wonderful to see someone get into the kitchen and give it a go :-) If I can get enough interested followers and find a big enough kitchen, maybe a cooking demo, a class ...
Hi Andysport, Re Nelson, don’t let him get to you, he spent sometime trying and succeeded in finding out who I am –my name-, and continued to put it on this site, when I worked out who he was and put his name he complained to the web master to have it taken off, the web master asked if I wanted my name removed, but he had put it there so many times it would make no difference so I said leave it, ...
So, not including building costs, that's just £126,300 per dwelling. Having a private beach is priceless...
Does anyone know of some storage available please? I have a 7m boat trailer that I need t store. Thanks
I have just come back from a lovely walk along the beach and back the cliff path. Thanks to Devon County Council the pathway has been cleared.
Thank you for this, much appreciated. Don't use this thread, use Mystery of Shutterton.
TEIGNBRIDGE’s oldest astroturf pitch is set to replaced thanks to a £300,000 project organised by Teignbridge District Council. The Dawlish All-Weather pitch at Sandy Lane has reached a grand old age of 20 and is believed to be the oldest of its kind in Devon. However the pitch has started showing its age, and will now be replaced with a brand new, top quality all-weather pitch. £145,000 of ...
@Don .... or your original rabies theory may be right. Rabies => hydrophobia = fear of water; so maybe, just maybe, she has been afflicted by the constant deluge here since April.
Andy. Ask Huw also for a contact phone/email about the RBL Photography Club as I believe they dont meet that often but tend to go out for the day more.
Cheers Nelson, I'll give them a ring ..... I can almost taste that smoked mackerel now :-)
Six-year-old Coen Moore certainly saw the funny side when his little brother Aiden crawled inside an arcade machine on holiday. Four-year-old Aiden was in Devon for his birthday and playing with friends when he managed to crawl inside an arcade machine where players control a crane to pick up teddy bears. He was stuck inside for half an hour before staff at Dawlish Sands Holiday Park found a ...
This is just an update of the ale trail leaflet that has been about for years. It's just a suggestion of what you can do on a day in Dawlish! We may work on the compulory thing!!! LOL

I am trying to hire out a beach hut at Coryton Cove for a week in August. Teignmouth District Council rent out three of them but unfortunately they are all booked up. Does anybody know anyone who has one of the beach huts and would be willing to rent one out. Many thanks.
