I love the new look Strand.
The tables outside Ryders and the display outside the flowershop next door really brighten up that part of the steet, and the tables outside the Ugly Duckling are a great idea.
I'd love there to be tables outside the other cafes, to encourage a cafe culture. I'd love to see tubs of flowers outside shops (there's lots of space outside the betting shop, the estate agents and travel shop). More shops should put out baskets of goods to display their wares, and A boards to advertise them.
talking about the betting shop, why is it the only premises with no paving up to the shop front?and Im glad you have time and money to enjoy cafe culture, lets not get to carried away, wait until the howling gales and rain starts in the winter. Enjoy while you can looking at filthy pavements and fumes from vehicles parked on the wrong side of the Strand
There would be no 'fumes from vehicles' had it been pedestrianisted like the majority of people voted for.
It is not just the betting shop, but some others as well.
All the shops were given an option to 'buy in' on the scheme to have their own property in front of the premises (which isnt council owned) to have the same paving stones so to completely match the rest of the work.
Some of the shops/businesses opted out of the scheme.
You don't have to be rich to enjoy a cup of coffee!
Don't blame the shops for not having the paving done, it was their landlords decision, but it's a shame some of them opted out.
@ QL.
Was I blaming anyone? No.
I was just replying to BN's enquiry.
And who said anything about having to be rich to enjoy a cup of coffee?
I certainly didn't so was there any reason to mention it?
I love a spot of fishing seriously tho I said I would reserve judgement until it was finished ..........................and Im still waiting
