The Sunburnt Arms the pub with the chequered past is to reopen under new ownership and will close at midnight.
The new landlord said the pub is unlikely to open for several months as substantial work is being carried out including the inside being rebuilt.
She said the aim is to create a family environment with controls on noise and discouraging groups of young people.
The Sunburnt Arms was the first pub in Teignbridge to be closed down after the discovery of drugs and counterfeit goods at the premises in a raid carried out jointly by police and trading standards officers.
The building has remained empty since its closure in August 2011.
