Good morning all,

I am sat here very cold, I have 2 electric radiators on a blanket around me, my dressing gown on and I'm very very cold, our un insulated caravan (with no heating) is mighty cold.

13 degrees with heaters on full.

Just started to feel sorry for myself (only for a second), when I thought about a gentleman I met in Dawlish 2 weeks ago, he was sleeping rough it was his first year,

6am I wonder where he is ?

I wonder if he's ok ?

I wonder if theres anything I can do to help ?

If you have wondered and asked yourself these questions, the answer is yes,

Nightstop in Exeter are looking for volunteers to give a bed to someone in need.

Very good, my point was maybe people could help others not just tell me how warm you are:-)

hey ho, good reponses though.

We have a log burner with back boiler(recycled) we have had to take out the ceiling and wall to replace with fireboard, We had to build a raised platform, I must say my wife has built a lovely fireplace with 10 garden slabs @ £1 each recycled, we have plumbed the caravan for radiators, I have 2 radiators left to fit and we are still awaiting the flue then it will be up and running, so hopefully sometime over the weekend.

I am seriously tight.

Wood, We have a stack of over grown trees on our site, during our 2 months in Dawlish I have cut up approx 6 cubic metres of logs for next winter, but for this winter  I have been collecting pallets whilst out and about getting materials and I've bought one of those paper log makers I have arranged collection of a weeks newspapers from a local cafe.

Well I'm not sure whether it's milder this morning or whether our efforts are paying off, we have the walls now boarded up and I scrounged some (lots) polystyrene packaging, we spent the evening stuffing it in the ceiling.

ANY IDEAS ?

Loft insulation has gone up to £30 a roll as grants have stopped, making loft insulation to expensive for underneath the caravan floor, so I had a thought about using straw (we know we would need to wrap it in cling film = keep the animals out) but has anyone else got any thoughts.

@Andysport.

I'm no expert but it sounds like you maybe living in a fire related accident waiting to happen. A caravan resting on bales of straw with the walls and ceiling stuffed full of polystyrene and an open fire nearby or inside.

Rather you than me mate LOL

If your right Brazilnut then perhaps a burning of his caravan might be a good idea. I could donate a couple of empty gas cylinders just to add a bit of intrest to the Straw, Polystyrene, Plastic, logs and paper bricks. We could all go round for a warm and do some jacket potatoes etc on the remains. Bring a beer or two chaps

Point taken, have kept the area surrounding fire free from polystyrene also walls & ceilings in these areas fire boarded, the straw we had thought we wouldn't be using it in close proximty to the fire.

Nice to see you all like me that much you'd give me a sending off though :-(
