Further to my previous post on the conservatory, I have heard today that the contractor is disputing that he is at fault. Apparently it was built to a certain specification, reading between the lines I should imagine this means it was built in soft wood, not a hardwood, because of cost. Therefore it seems Smokey is right and it should have been regularly maintained. Whether this was the case ...
I hope all those critics of the councillors will be standing at the next elections in May. I look forward to reading their manifestoes. (Genuinely, I want to see what a difference can be made by those who are currently outside of council) Hopefully the mailshots will be better than the Lib Dem one through my door today - a load of twaddle and how sad to see that Mr Protheroe is standing again ...
Nobody will take over all you would get is debt!!!!!!!!!!
007 that is excactly what I want to do shop in town but pedestrianisation will force me out !!!!!!!
FRONTERAMAN If you are finding a problem using any car wash, I suggest you go elsewhere, or better still buy your own jet washer and block up your own drains, 99% of people that wash their cars only have road dirt on them and don't want to tread mud into them left by mindless cretins who have been off roading! The car wash is for all to use including motorbikes. If there are piles of mud left ...
Yes they will be on the Paignton - Dawlish - Exmouth local service, there was talk of making it half hourly, new timetable from May/June. Torbay Rail Users are aware of all this and representations have already been made, so there will be some changes! If First Great Western cant do it.... South West Trains can!
+1. What a hare-brained scheme that was though!
Lost female long haired brown tabby cat 2.5 years old goes by the name of DALE. Black bushy tale and black stripes on the front legs, very fluffy but quite a small cat. Lost outside vets on friday 11.02.10 ran into gardens at Haldon Terrace but owner unable to catch her. Last seen in Priory Park Road by owner at 7.30am on 15.02.11, owner still unable to catch her. Dale was a stray cat and lived ...
A fire at a home in Dawlish left a total of 13 residents homeless. The fire broke out in a ground floor flat of the four-storey property in West Cliff. Firefighters rescued a married couple from a first floor balcony of the Victorian listed building. Paramedics treated five residents at the scene, one for a foot injury and four for smoke inhalation. Firefighters from Dawlish, Teignmouth and ...
Date change. Because of logistical problems with Car Parking generated by maybe a thousand people travelling to Haldon Forest on a Saturday, the rally has been POSTPONED until Saturday 2nd April. For more information go to http://www.eclipse.co.uk/exeter/haldon/
Sorry @Fronterman and others, this is not a Dawlish Swan that is missing. The number is a Camborne, Cornwall one, so I guess the swan has gone missing from there? The email address also suggests this but I did not want to publish it without the owner's consent.
No - I shan't be standing. Being a councillor is my idea of......... well........not me at all. I'm politically active in other ways -using this website being an example. Don't know what you mean by my trying to find out what you are up to as I thought you had made that perfectly clear yourself - that you wish(ed) to stand for the town council in May. All I'm saying is,is that you can do that as ...
Anyone up for forming a working party to demolish it by hand. We could then move onto the ex Sally Army building the council wasted all our money on at Park Road. Just think in time we could create some extra off road parking for which we could charge less than Teignbridge and Devon County and also make a bit selling the hard core and scrap metal. Yipeee
Banning smoking and allowing supermarkets to sell cheap booze were good polices then. Maybe the government have plans to bring down the number of pubs as they have with petrol stations. Perhaps someone reading this may have the time to look for connections between the Conservatives, the Supermarket Giants and the alcohol retailing network. The results as to who owns who and who has fingers in ...
The potholes have all been patched on Warren Road and Mount Pleasant Road.
The council-owned Park Road building will end up costing electors £250,000 despite it lying unused for the last 12 months. Furious residents say they want an opology and have designed a placard bearing the image of a white elephant and handed it over to the council's finance and general purposes committe. The council bought the premises at 34 Park Road, Dawlish in February 2010 at the price of ...
Suggest you tell that to Julian Crow Operations Manager, South West First Great Western, Milford House, 1, Milford Street Swindon SN1 1HL email - julian.crow@firstgroup.com and then let us know his response.

I think it would work in cummunity type places ..not sure about Dawlish!
Still write to Chris Shaw he is in charge of this area, the Dawlish Office is mainly for PCSOs
Anyone else seen it? Can hardly be missed. Three words succinctly expressing the author's/artist's feelings towards the government.
A couple who bought the property 18 months ago for £1.7million are facing life on the edge after their garden crashed into the sea. The house in Dawlish, Devon was built by Nick Skilton, managering directon of Wessex Products. He was granted planning permission in 2005 for a four bedroom house with a glass sprial staircase and indoor pool despite its apparently percarious postion. In 2007 it ...
@DawlishBlue . Already have done it. As mentioned up top. Thank you.
Concerned you are correct and my apologies
It could be sooner, Lynne that is true, but I think the government has not yet p*ssed off enough people for an uprising like we see in Egypt. They have of course already p*ssed off most people under the age of 25 (tuition fees trebled, no hope of ever buying a house, etc.). The reason I say a year is because many of the government funded agencies are being phased out by March 2012. There will be ...
Wonder if anyone can help with the search for Bert Davies ? He worked at Coleshill House during World War 2. This is where the secret army of Auxiliary Units were trained. Antbody know of him?
I don't think that the cost of parking in Dawlish helps. I realise that you can park in the Co-op for free, but anyone wanting to wander around the town looking at shops or having a coffee has to pay high parking charges. We go to France regularly every year and very rarely do we find a town that charges for parking. Consequently the towns are flourishing with people spending time there without ...
Today I noticed that a bench had gone missing in Manor Park by the side of Hedley Centre, it looked like had just been ripped out, it way there yesterday. Anybody know what happened to it?
As I'm picking up very strongly that we may well have Independent candidates for whom to vote on our town council ballot papers in May I wondered if we might be having the same choice in terms of our district council candidates. Dawlish returns 5 councillors to Teignbridge District Council and all 5 seats will also be up for grabs at the May election. Presently all 5 councillors are Conservative ...
PJD I agree. I'm happy with what I know and its easy here! ..just click at the top what you want and bingo its there! ..how is easy that! All this fuss about access via i phone and mobiles..Im sure one day people will look back at the early 2000s generation when people walked everywhere with a phone stuck to their head and adults playing facebooik games on a phone! (at a price) duh!
Attention all garden lovers. The DGS has Toby Buckland and Chris Beardshaw featured in this year's events calendar. See www.dawlishgardensociety.org.uk for details.
Thanks Lynn for finding that... have to ....nobody has anything to say when any 'positive' news is posted!
I think there are 2 schools of thought here. I am all for letting the banks fail, accepting the job losses, repossessions, etc. picking up the pieces, learning by the mistakes and building a better system. In fact, I could not care less if it 'costs' more which I'm sure it would not. It may be 'embarrassing' for some people who overstretched and now are unable to keep up with the Joneses but who ...
People who drive ..cant walk anywhere, he could get a taxi back lol!
Whatever these politicians come out with, they always seem to manage to put their foot in it. I seem to remember that they pay thousands of pounds to advisors and consultants and still they can't get it right.
Network Rail has invested more than £8.5m over the last 10 years to protect the railway line along the Dawlish and Teignmouth coast line. Climate change experts have warned that sea levels could rise making the line more difficult to protect. An alternative line would cost about £100m and would pass through Okehampton, Tavistock and Plymouth. Anne Marie Morris conserative MP for Newton Abbot ...
@Lynne - sainsbury's of course, but they are all the same really. interesting comment about local economy you mean with have one or how we wont have one in the future ha ha ha
