Hello I used to come to Dawlish Warren as a child on happy holidays, and I have now lived on the Warren rd for 20 years. I don't know your relatives but there are two contacts who have been in the village for a long time and may help you with information. The first would be Lee's Bar which was previously a cafe in the 70's/ 80's (selling the best pasties in the land!). I believe ownership remains in the family (not 100% sure) and they probably knew people up the Warren rd. The other contact would be the people who put up Pine Tree Close on the Warren rd. This family used to run the Golden Acres holiday park (now demolished) and the post office (now Geralds supermarket). I believe they owned a bungalow near the Sunburnt arms but I know their name is not Perry. I think the Pine Tree development is still run as a Ltd company so you could trace Directorship on the internet - I always found the man who put up the development to be polite and approachable. As the post office was the hub of the community back in the 70's then I think there is a fair chance this family would know your relatives.
Hi mumofewan,
Thankyou so much for your post, you have given me some great info, i think my grandparents used to live by the old post office. i have emailed golden acres(thats if its still same info, it was really hard trying to find contact info on them.) i couldnt find a email address for lee's bar.

Hello Zoe
Lee's Bar seems to be registered on Facebook but I don't have an account so I am not sure if you can contact them through that website. Gerald's supermarket have a community board by the door where people put up postcards for sale, for rent etc. Perhaps you could ask them to put up a notice asking after your family...the locals tend to pop in for a pint or a paper especially on days like today when the rain is horrible! I always scan the board on my way out so it might catch the eye of the right person. As for the Golden Acres development, the owner's are still active in the business as they have a house up for sale over there plus signs of more building in the future. If you search on the net you will find some postal contact addresses for the owner who may respond to an old-fashioned letter?
Good luck!
