I saw on the news that one arcade owner was threatening to pack up his arcade business. Could this be the end of Harrison's too?

Instead of VAT on slot machines the new idea is to impose a new tax every amusement machine, basically it's a tax on turnover, then the companies still have to pay their normal tax.

What makes this even more unfair is it extremely difficult to increase costs for amusement machines due to the money being 'collected' by the coin mechanism. So the owners can't just add a few pennies to cover tax as with a normal retail business.

However, please remember our govt needs a million pounds a day to bomb Libya, they've got to find the money somewhere!!! "Every little helps" or so they say.

Yes most unfair this one.

Up to now, only the 18+ machines have been subject to this tax,on top of the individual licence that every machine has required. Now every machine is included, including the coin shovers and the fluffy toy cranes(dont expect to win one of those easily lol).

Harrisons is part of the nobles group so i think they may survive,i can see a lot of the little independents going to the wall though.

Like wriggler says, weve a war to pay for,not to mention the foriegn aid to countries that would blow us to bits given the first chance. Im just waiting for the pavement toll charges to be announced
