Who exactly are the so-called campaign group "Railfuture Devon and Cornwall"? that are referred to in the news story on the home page of this website?

Looking at their website, these loonies who want to close the coastal line through Dawlish consist of just two people.

Sounds to me like they're yet another pair of single-issue busybodies - much like the anti-CCTV loons.

Quite why this rag-tag duo are given any credence in the media, god only knows!

Dawlish without the Dawlish Line, would be like Dawlish without the Black Swans. Leave well alone Messrs Duddridge and Mulley!

The same goes for Tory Boy Neil Mitchell, a supposedly independent regional transport analyst. I'm sure he wasn't independent when he was advising that evil bitch Thatcher whilst she was bringing the transport industry (and industry in general) to it's knees.

It's clear that Mitchell is only trying to scoring political points in the hope that Cameron will give him some work IF the mortgage-dodger comes to power.

I hope that they get told to stick their stupid ideas up their tunnels.

What happens if the sea does go as high as they say it will?
That so reminds me of the person who said to me once, 'it's so good to have a bus service, hope they don't take it off, I've never used it but is good to know it's there!'

Roy, just to clarify, you seem to have missed out on history when at school.... I assume you didn't have the academic capacity to study both Geography and History and had to make a choice? It was Dr Beeching who dismantled the railways not Tory Boy or Thatcher. If you're going to rant about one of the best PM's this nation has witnessed at least get your facts straight. On a better note my friend I agree the railway line must stay and stop the Loony Two from going any further....wouldn't be the same Loonies who Max Mosley was going on about at Silverstine this week was it? Flavio Rail could be the future in the Soutwest, just think you could get the 08:15 from Dawlish to Paddington on the High Speed Briatori, or if you only want to go to Exeter you could get the Maclaren silver snail, with driver Hamilton at the controls.

The sea levels won't rise by that much for at least another 100 years.

By then, our descendents will all be travelling on longer journeys, for example to get to the tropical beach holiday destination The Orkneys, aboard magnetically levitated trains.

Short journeys, e.g. to pick up the pension from the Red Rock Post Office, will be via Jet Packs.

Meanwhile, our great-grandchildren will travel to do their quarterly shopping at the 40 square mile South West Walmart Mall built on top of what was once the town known as Totnes, using closed cab microlights - flying cars, if you like.

Must go, Doc tells me that he's finally gotten round to mending my DeLorean DMC-12...
