Every day we open a newspaper or tune into a radio station or switch on the T.V local or national It's all about Alma Harding from Kenton being found guilty of assaulting a 13year boy she suspected of vandalism.
Apparently she hit him with a rolled up paper from a church meeting minutes.
I wonder if Alma Harding had been assaulted by a teenager she would have had the same amount of publicity!!!!!

I always thought that this country followed the principle of "innocent until proven guilty"??

I mean, I suspect that many people who post on here are complete and utter teeds, however that doesn't mean that I take it upon myself to physically assault them.

So, love, if you want to act as a self-appointed judge and jury, then you shouldn't whinge when the real arms of the law wrap their long arms around you...

If this incident had happened 50 years ago, nothing would have been said. The boy's mother would have clouted him one too instead of calling in the police. In fact, a copper being called in would have given him a cuff round the ear too!

As a mother myself, if I'd have found out my boy had vandalised something or disrespected an elder I'd expect that person to tell me and then I'd dish out my own punishment, as fitting.

Alma was wrong to strike out but I understand where she's coming from too. Teenage boys can look quite threatening to an older person.

To be honest I don't know where I stand on this issue, except that it was a waste of police time.

I agree with you Ziggy, she shouldn't have hit him with a news paper it should have been a piece of 4 x 2.
If they stick their chin out and say "go on I dare you to hit me" I would... I don't play by their rules I have my own.

How patronising you are. I have read a few of your comments and think you have nothing better to do than to annoy people…

I am afraid I am on Alma's side and I ain't no sympathising pensioner...THIS COUNTRY IS GOING MAD...Let's give the chav's the keys to the cities and anyone who retaliates against them LOCK THEM UP! MADNESS. When I was a boy (here we go), we never dreamed of back chatting our elders, nevermind intimidating them. This culture we have needs to be stamped on with a zero tolerance by the authorities.
