I would like to know what you all think of the farmers market, I think its great and should be supported as much as possible,if it is not supported it will just go down the drain like everything else.
Its about time things started happening on the lawns, we need more to attract the holiday makers, there are numerous charity stalls in the summer, others ought to be given the opportunity to show there talents ie perhaps craft Fayre.
I've checked out the market the last three months, but although I commend the bravery of the traders for standing in the freezing weather, there's not been anything I want to buy. Most of the problem is that it's no longer a farmers market, and half of the stalls no longer sell food. Get a better balance (like the reinstated Teignmouth market) and I'm sure the punters will be there, including me. But it'll need more stalls and better stalls for it to take off.
Put the market in the Strand and stop the traffic that day.. then it will get noticed. Meanwhile the traders 'mark time' for the holiday trade.
That I feel is the problem.... No one supports Dawlish Town events... The events (if you could call it that) held on the green during the summer were nothing but a bric a brac/car boot sale. And they say all proceeds go to charity, Yeah right of course they do...
We have nice looking stalls now and hats off to the stall holders who are supporting the town, well done. Maybe they don't have what you are looking for but don't knock them for trying.
Obviously you have not read the information - Dawlish does not have a Farmers market - it has a Local Producers Market - that means items produced in and around Dawlish - simples!!
No one in Dawlish supports anything... They live in the dark ages... Bring back the horse and cart I hear them say.... Move on and support YOUR town for goodness sake and stop all this gripping
Is there a difference between a Farmers Market and a Local Producers Market Sid?
I say to everybody - come to Dawlish it is different. We don't have M & S, British Home Stores, Selfridges, Harrod's, Debenham's and the like, but we may soon have a TESCO or a SAIN'SBURY to spoil our lot. Keep the place simple for simple people - Roy and FEL-699 to name but a few.
Dunnit now, they will certainly be throwing not only their toy's out of the pram, but their loolypops too.
A small and insignificant question for Mr. Viaduct, which is why do you put an apostrophe in Sainsburys? There must be a point, but please make clear as already struggling to grasp some of this petty (and extremely dull) e-mail rivalry. Sometimes I think - perhaps vainly - there might be something interesting hinted at, but suspect not. Still, if anyone has anything to say that isn't blather, I would be interested.
