Foxy, so are you saying that you're the author of Munguins Republic blog? Written by you in Scotland? If so, welcome to Dawlish. If not, Foxy, you're a plagiarist. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Young of today, old of tomorrow. The youth of today needs to seriously think about the decisions they allow their government to adopt today. Because tomorrow it is likely to bite them in the rear. It is to often that the young don't have any comprehension that all the old people walking around today were the children of decades gone by, scarey thought.
@warrior - i can only give my own opinion. in an ideal world were everyone helps each other rather than themselves and there is no criminality. the e.u mandates would be good. although the world is made up of a mix of humans, some who are kind and giving, those who wish to be left alone and then there are the predators. predators being criminals, multi nationals and certain governmentswho feed of ...
Lynne, I could not agree more. I was refering to the European's who uphold their industries and manufacturing bases via taxation, pay better wages, and fair taxes based on abilty to pay. Yes the British taxpayer is indeed subsidising a so-called free market in tax credits, pensions credits, and housing benefit, and a means test for pensioners costing more than uprating State pensions to a ...
I say to Paul, Brussels are not running Britain. And never has been. What has been running Britain is decades of right wing Tory policy, including privatisation of our utilities under Thatcher, and privatisation of our railways in 1992 under John Major.
Wonder what influence Murdoch and his right wing press will have this time around?
Ive also read your postings roberta. It seems some people at least on this site have all their eggs in one basket so to speak .
Oh just give it a rest will you Elvis. You didn't have to post anything at all but you just couldn't let it go could you. Not sure why you take the moral highground, you're no better.
@neilh - the immigrants who invaded the continent, now called the u.s.a, had no issues with exterminating nearly all the indigineous population. the natives respected the land and only took from it what they needed to survive. are you surprised that they would hesitate to allow israel to resupply from the local american ammo dump/base!

Went to the Srand Centre to the garden society show well worth a visit. So many talented people in Dawlish.
The four men from Somerset travelled to Dawlish Warren on the last night of the August Bank Holiday last year and lay in wait for the manager of the Golden Sands Holiday Park as he banked the bumper £10,000 takings. Judith Chalmers you clearly worded your post to be patronisingly offensive. If you don't like people telling you so, then you should avoid posting in such a way in the first place.
Very nice to see the new brown tourist signs that have been put up on the approaches to town along the A379. A very welcome encouragement for people to stop off and visit Dawlish.

@flo . And the first test could come this weekend with strong winds expected. especially Sunday. This Information I took from Met Office.
I'm thoroughly sick and tired of all this. Cyber bullying is still bullying. There seem to be a small few who want to ruin this forum with continual bickering, allegations of a variety of nastiness and just downright disgusting behaviour. Wait for it....... next I expect it'll be the annual 'slag off the carnival' festival.
@Mrs C, you are absolutely right about mis-information being given out. Many people were told that the proposed new building was only twice the size of the current bandstand. When people found out the truth they were horrified and started to lodge objections. Views differ on the use of pre-prepared objection letters, but when many people have the same points to raise it is accepted that ...
Apparently it's International Apostrophe Day on Friday 15th August so I might give the carnival floats a miss and stay in and celebrate it.
what a shame the carnival directors are not as perfect as you brooklyn bridge
On the Dawlish Beach webcam, I and quite a few others saw a Man,Woman, pushing a pram/pushchair, 2 children who went near to tracks. This webcam saw them coming towards Dawlish. Apparently you can see this on DB Facebook page. This Is something I would never do.
The new timber framed houses are a total rip off and not worth a fraction of the asking price. In ten to fifteen years time Cranbrook will be the sort of 60s slum council estate the authorities up north have been demolishing in the recent past. If you cannot get the standard 10 year NHBC warranty on a new property then you should automatically suspect there to be something not right. Go into the ...
An important public notice has been issued regarding the Dawlish Air Show 2014 http://dawlishairshow.co.uk/newindex/air-show-news-public-notice-re-the-sea-wall-walkway/ Sea Wall Walkway The walkway between Coastguards Ramp and Rock Stone Footbridge remains closed due to on-going construction works on the Lower Sea Wall. It's a shame really. It is without a doubt laughable event to be honest. But give them their due they do try.
I'll also offer my services re proof reading etc
The grant to the Shaftesbury Theatre is well deserved, for they are putting on a production this week of "Oh! What a Lovely War" and it has a larger cast with more demands on costume than they normally encounter. This amateur production opens on the centenary of the Declaration of War on August 4th, 1914, and it is part of a continuing programme of events, exhibitions and commemorative services ...
Byelaws that should be abided by on The Lawn should be posted at all entrances. Anyone breaking any of the byelaws should be put in stocks on The Lawn for an hour. Local shops can supply out of date veg, etc for people to throw at them. Oh! the stocks could be built and supplied by one of the local prisons. Just a thought.
I took a drive up to the Warren and had a walk along the sea wall back towards Dawlish. A beautiful morning to be alive and living in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Even if we still like to winge a lot down here.
Take a look on Eyes of Dawlish fb for a posting about Easterhill nursery. Seems it is under new management and there are lots of plants for sale at incredibly low prices. Bedding plants at 5p each apparently. Nursery open 9-6. https://www.facebook.com/EODawlish
I watched this on the news the other night, its frightening, thank God we have the railway :(
You will know that smaller dogs live longer that large dogs (mine is a German Shpherd average age 11/12) so the age that is introduced may be later for small dogs.
Sludge - isn't that a Farrow & Ball colour?
Yes they are all me , i own up . If thats was you want me to say i will, if it makes you happy . who am i to complain. You seem to think you are right all the time. If want to see a troll take a look at yourself.

...and horrendous hailstones in S.London. I'll give you one good guess where the sewage goes when the rain is torrential...it's designed not to follow it's normal treatment route...so let's just say it may be worth thinking about whether swimming is such a good idea straight afterwards...
@Lynne , @Andysport , you are right. After reading it in full, I don't see any reason for removing the thread. Perhaps, as you say, it would be best to let the debate rest unless new information becomes available.
Well I must be living in another Dawlish in Devon. Bushes growing out of the curbs, rubbish strewn all over the place, public paths looking like jungles. There my be budget cuts at the council, but I'm still paying £2k a year for not a lot. Also, not to forget all the great plans that the councils implement at great tax payer expensive that become white elephants and/or just a complete waste of ...
