For info: have just sent her this (her email address should anyone want it is annemarie.morris.mp@parliament.uk) Dear Ms Morris, I have today received the local Conservative news sheet. I note that on the back page under the heading “A real voice for local people in planning decisions” you say you want communities to have a right of appeal against planning decisions and that you also wish them to ...

Oh dear, Margaret doesn't get irony! She's far too important for that!
Just to let people know that the Coca Cola Truck is in Torquay this year, not Exeter. We had a wonderful time last year and the grandchildren's faces were a picture when they first saw the truck in all its glory. They want to go this year, so were off to Torquay on the 17th, like many others, let's hope it is a dry evening! CHRISTMAS is on its way and to mark another season of festivities the ...

That's a tyred old joke JC.
The iconic attraction has thrown its weight behind a proposed new tourism and leisure development beside the M5 near Tiverton. And as Louise Walter reports, it could lead to Eden having an outpost at the gateway to the south west. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=832472663484900
Thanks must go to the Friends of Dawlish Station group who turned up to do the planting and to Toby Buckland for donating the plants. The group, all volunteers, do a fantastic job battling the elements to keep the planters looking as good as possible. We are a small group and do need more help with the watering, so if anyone out there would like to join FoDS then please do get in touch with me.
I am glad that FGW took up my suggestion of preparing walks from the Exeter-Paignton stations. There has for some time been a very good booklet for walks from the Avocet LIne stations and that provided a model for this new booklet. The walk from Lympstone is a favourite if timed to end with a pub lunch.
@wondering - it is perfectly technically possible to push the waterfront away from the line - spend permitting!! Beach would look somewhat different though Think Dutch - problem solved. Can then electrify. Chudleigh - am sure they too would love their station back - so too would most of north Devon and Cornwall !!! But it is not the correct strategic solution @ MC - On the premise that any g'ovt ...
Thanks for giving us the Gordon Hook link though.
I have been with Animal Friends Insurance for 8 years (German Shepherd) his eighth birthday was in June and the policy needed to be renewed in July 2014 Understandably the monthly premium increased from £24 per month to £31.50 which I accept plus the £99 excess then I noticed it said "35% per cost. Not having seen that before I called their office to be told I now have to pay 35% of the Vet bill ...
Exminster needs help to ensure that they are heard. Teignbridge want the Appeal Hearing via written representation, whilst Exminster wants oral representation so they can be asked questions for clarification on relevant points. They need people to comment on the case via the link below to put public pressure on so they get a fair hearing. http://www.birdsvbovis.info/october-2014-update/ Latest ...
@flo - i totally agree with what you are saying. not all cyclists may go to the warren nnr. not all walkers may go to the warren nnr. there again some might. potential extra footfall caused by the exe trail is seemingly okay but not potential extra visitors caused by the new housing. that is what i am getting at. there appears to be a contradiction.
Totally agree. In recent years, cygnets have been put into the pen for the own protection - with mum and/or dad nearby. I'm sure that once the swans begin to breed (in a couple of Springs time?) then the warden will do everything he can to look after them.
Don't forget not every house of the 860 would pay CIL eg. Social housing, Self build, and some are reduced fees. This is the easiest document I found to clarify. http://www.norwich.gov.uk/Planning/Documents/CILGuidanceNote1.pdf. I hope this helps to explain a bit.

QED: http://nyagv.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Accidental-Shootings-NYAGV.pdf I don't think this link will work so 'copy and paste' please.
That's really useful to know, thanks for posting that Lynne. My parents regularly go to London for hospital appointments and they use an Oyster card but I don't think they had any idea you could do this. I will pass the info on to them
The B&B and guest accommodation of the year category was particularly good for South Devon, with Torquay’s The Elmdene taking gold, Teignmouth’s The Minadab Cottage taking silver, and Babbacombe’s Cary Arms taking bronze. In the holiday village and resort of the year category, Dawlish’s Cofton Country Holidays won gold and Paignton’s Beverley Holidays won joint silver. Read more... ...
The 28-year-old chairman of the Devon Young Farmers Club is a shining example of how the industry is changing and adopting new techniques, as it evolves to meet 21st century needs. Chris, who is due to step down from his post in two weeks after a year in office, is already forging a successful career on the family farm just outside Exeter. But as he revealed, although he comes from a farming ...
Just in case anyone should be keeping an eye out for any particular planning application A weekly check on this link might prove useful. http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/article/21112/Quarter-4-of-2014 Look to the right of the page for weekly update on planning applications submitted to TDC.
The South West peninsula’s economy would enjoy a £6 billion windfall if the Government invested in electric trains to serve the entire region, a report reveals today. Against calls for heavy investment in railways in the far South West, an independent report has revealed for the first time the benefits of ditching diesel engines in favour of electric trains all the way from the capital to ...
Thanks Kaz for the link, interesting read. Dawlish seemed a much prouder town in days gone by, shame.
it must have been the Christmas Market on the Strand that I saw advertised.
Plenty of warning signs along the beach.
The council may compulsory purchase some of Richard Weeks' Warren Farm to create a public park on the cliffs between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. More than 1,240 people have signed an online petition calling on the Government to 'stop Teignbridge Council forcing a farmer off his land'. Warren Farm has been part of a Natural England Countryside Stewardship scheme for the past 10 years and provides a ...
I'm sure that they are, and I know that it did many of the rest of us the power of good to have the opportunity to work together to help others. Those were dark days with the sea front closed off and Marine Parade railings destroyed. It was a dreadful shock to see the world changed overnight, pulling together to help others was a powerful antidote to that feeling of helplessness when the news was ...

The following may contain the seeds of an answer to Daverc's question http://www.devon.gov.uk/dawlishupdate.pdf http://www.devon.gov.uk/text/census_profile-div47-dawlish.pdf Very worrying information about homes without central heating, fuel poverty and children being raised in poverty Dawlish is a lovely place to live, but its sad to see how difficult life can be for our neighbours. The reasons ...
@JC - No need to thank me, although accepted.
@DJ - you put forward a good arguement, but the only things going down are the council costs and the services we have paid for in dawlish, through high rates.
Did a child write that? ...further down re Kingsbridge 'we got nothing' Newton 'Abbout' lol Just spotted that, cant be bothered to read it all. Still can't work out why Dawlish has always been a 'top secret' events Carnival.
An interesting link... http://www.railmagazine.com/galleries/dawlisha-bird-s-eye-view/image/3222

Very good Video. Well done.
There was a lot of fireworks around on Saturday (15th) night.
And that, dear Burneside, says far more about you than it does it about me. Dont forget to get your family to press Agree...
Firefighters were called to a fire at a Dawlish caravan park on Sunday. The fire, which involved a ground level hook-up, was reported at around 9.15am at the Holiday Park in Warren Road, Dawlish Warren. One fire engine from Dawlish attended but the fire was out when the crews arrived. http://www.torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/Firefighters-called-Dawlish-caravan/story-24541724-detail/story.html
