Spring and summer are just around the corner, which means barbeques, swim parties and camp outs are going to be all the rage.  Is your yard ready for the spotlight?  Preparing your yard to host guests is not only fun, but easily affordable if you know what you are doing.  Do not worry about custom designing furniture or hiring a decorator to make your yard look spectacular.  Here are some ways you can make your yard look fabulous on a tight budget.

Colors fit for a yard

Nature already does most of the coloring for a yard, but there are several colors that can make a patio pop.  Stick to colors that look well with natural colors, but stand out like lemon yellow, orange or turquoise.  Adding an outdoor rug in these hues is a great way to add a splash of color and keep the natural outdoor feel as well.  Instead of black or brown furniture, do not be afraid to purchase colorful outdoor furniture or cushions or pillows to add some zest to your patio.

Unique furniture

If your budget is not enough to go out and purchase the hottest patio furniture, do not give up on finding the perfect furniture.  Have fun with the furniture you already have or go to the thrift store and purchase an old patio furniture set and spray paint it to make it seem new.  Add chairs that do not match but work well together, and tie them all together with a cool tablecloth and some cushions.  According to Sunset.com the best outdoor chairs are folding chairs, and you can definitely give life to a drab folding chair by spray painting it a fun color.

Multiple uses for fences

A fence’s primary purpose is to add privacy to a yard, but do not let that be the only purpose of your fence.  Hang weather tolerant artwork on the fence to add color and character to your yard.  It is also not a bad idea to add shelves to your fence where you can set potted plants, lanterns or other outdoor décor to make your yard feel cozy.  Adding shelves or artwork is definitely affordable and can make a yard seem professional decorated without the hefty cost.

Lighting means everything

Obviously the sun is enough light for the day time, but most outdoor gatherings take place once the sun begins to set, and lighting for a yard can either make or break the feel of nature.  Outdoor lanterns for candles are a great way to add lighting to a yard without being too much light.  Another popular way to light up the yard is by hanging outdoor bulbs around the patio.  If you are into fire pits, let your fire pit be the main source of light with a few lanterns here and there.  You do not want your lighting to make your guests feel like they are indoors and forget to enjoy the beautiful summer weather.
