There's not many times that I have ever wanted to be on the right side of the law, but today I did.
I was driving down Badlake Hill at ten past ten this morning, when coming up the hill was a red drving school car with L plates, containing just the driving instructor. I waited while he came up past the line of parked cars on my side of the road.
There he was texting or dialing on his mobile phone. Disgraceful!
I would have phoned the police myself had I have had the name. Thirty years ago he would have had some road rage.
We get enough road rage anyway - ever seen anyone going down Badlake while someone else is coming up? I once got told to get off my own f*****g drive so that someone could pull on to it to get past. (It was a taxi). One woman wouldn't reverse back up the hill because 'she didn't know how to'. A copper would have a field day, if there was ever one around. And Mr. Stone wants to add to the traffic by building more houses.
I assume Cassandra was asking which Driving School it was. Then the alleged perpetrator could be named and shamed.
@elvis presley - red car, driving school, 'l' plates. there is only one red driving school car i know of that resides in upper longlands. i had the misfortune of meeting this rather odious instructer as i was coming up bad lake hill some weeks ago. admittedly he had a learner driver at the time, but instead of slowing down and pulling over to let me carry on up the hill. he allowed the learner to pull on to my side of the road and accelerate. i would have lost the entire side of my car if i had not moved hard against the side of the road.
Anyone who knows Bad Lake hill is aware of how steep it is and stopping when I was on my own side of the road and the learner was on their own side of the road with parked cars in front of them was not an option.
As I carried on up the hill, heart pounding, I saw the instructor get out of the passenger side and give me a gesture. Then a couple of weeks later I had the misfortune of meeting him again. he stopped in front of my car and started screaming at me. His windows were closed so I don't know what he was saying, but I can guess.
My car is equipped with cameras, front and back, and as such he was videod on each occassion.
If you wish to persue a complaint against him BEE9, then I am happy to give a statement and they can check his phone records, which will demonstrate he was using his phone.
Elvis - is he independent or with a school? if he's with a school then report him to them - they can take action internally.
If you or anyone else want to take it further then contact the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency as all instructors have to adhere to a code of practice https://www.gov.uk/guidance/adi-voluntary-code-of-practice
