Agree with everything you say . If the affordable housing is for local people as it should be & as it is in other parts of the country. We do have a growing indigenous population & problems with schools etc will have to be tackled with or without new housing and you never know the reat may be second or holiday homes!
I understand that the stupid people of Dawlish like their money to be spent wisely. CCTV is a very wise investment. It reduces the fear of crime, it prevents and detects crime and the cameras can't see in the dark, now that's value for money.
very interesting piece. it is available to watch on the bbc website under the politics show south west reviews
why does the council need new premises.Another way of wasting council tax? For all the good they do they may as well have their meetings in a pub, Oh forgot meetings are "not open the public"
Well Dawlish pillars of society are offering you supermarkets for a start. They are trying to deny you open space. They are attempting to build so many houses that it won't be too far into the future that congestion charging will be brought in. You have a variety of estate agents (to many) all playing the same tune. You have a variety of charity shops and numerous coffee houses. You would get more ...
If Dawlish is so 'bad' why have so many people moved here from other parts of the country? Go on, ask yourselves that.
I agree the beach is ideal but as I have to take my dog out a few times a day and it has to fit in with work it doesn't always fit in with the tides! Haldon and the obelisk are great for days out with the family but not for a quick run before work....
More than 200 people attended a public meeting in Dawlish to debate whether the town needs a new supermarket. The meeting was called following proposals by Tesco for a supermarket at Sandy Lane and Sainsbury's interest in the Shutterton Estate. Alan Connett, leader of the district council, said: "I was delighted to see so many people at the meeting who are concerned about achieving the best for ...
A trainee manager employed by Tesco has been exposed as a convicted paedophile. At the time of his offences, Daniel Luckman lived at Newlands in Dawlish, he had served a 15 month jail sentence for child porn offences after being convicted in 2003 and also he had been placed on the sex offenders' register, but Luckman failed to tell his bosses when he was taken on by Tesco Metro stores in ...
Does anyone know of anyone in Dawlish who does cat sitting in their own home for other peoples cats?
I believe there is a small sewarage works in the woods by the path that leads from Starcross up to the carpark by the shop at Powderham Castle. That's what I mean by being away from human habitation. Also, I believe the sewarage works on Warren Road was built after the campsites were there. I tried walking along that part of Warren Road again today - minging is not the word. I couldn't do it ...
Don't know if this forums got anything to do with it but unleaded and derv have gone down by 1p. Keep up the gossip!!!!!!!!!!!
I have worked all over the country from Monday to Friday and allways loved coming HOME to my roots in DAWLISH at weekends.
i think the bandstand should stay as it is, its perfect as a football goal. as long as it gets a paint job before summer each year when you guys need it. (and maybe a urinal fitted inside also)
An elderly Dawlish antiques dealer who acted as "a fence" for stolen jewellery was caught on a covert video selling items to an undercover policeman.Kenneth Paterson, 70, was twice recorded selling jewellery to an undercover officer known only as John, said Malcolm Galloway, prosecuting at Exeter Crown Court. Police caught Galloway as part of Operation Moonstone which had centred on the ...

Do I hear sour grapes from guba guba? And yes you're right but its a big back garden. Dawlish Town train in the same gardens as United do
That is why she has small feet to stand nearer the cooker, sink, ironing board etc
What about camping on Dartmoor? Should be ok as the weather starts to warm up. I know of a nice campsite near Buckland in the Moor
Theres been no pond Luscombe for about 3 years, where have the ducks gone maybe the councillors could go to the same place
Dawlish needs good PR to "talk it up". Hence Waitrose better than Sainsbury, Sainsbury better than Tesco, Tesco better than Somerfield, Somerfield better than Aldi & Lidl. Get the picture?
Imagine the scenario your in your 30s having a bit of an arguement with someone (nothing violent) a snotty nosed 17 year old comes over aand tries to cool things down or do you for breach of peace
Polls are not representative of the people. The only way to do it is send a questionaire to every household and Force them to complete it and thats draconian or have something on the lawn. Not everyone can attend meetings they have other comitments Most people I talk to the topic is not if we should have a proper retail outlet but where. I think all those against have either got property prices ...

Have to go on a diet for a month. If Sainsburys was open I could go on a healthy living plan for April and save some wedge
Really dont care about the shop the rest not true I work hard and have no kids to go out and enjoy a pint. The bit about kids etc? well I am sure you like me know at least 2 or 3 iresponsible people round here that have kids expecting the tax payers to keep their offspring
If I was them I would close right NOW and leave Dawlish without fuel as Sainsburys will be selling it.
is your room still available and if so how much per week?
Yes, a supermarket will stop the trek to Newton or Exeter but it will also bring more cars to us here, in Dawlish. Swings and roundabouts if you ask me. Money will go out of the local economy and into Mr Sainsbury's pockets. 1. From the tourists and 2. From those who live here. Jobs? I have an open mind on how many and how well paid etc. However, let's see if we can guess where a lot of that ...
i think that people lose their money so much quicker on the casino machines in there that they no longer hang around for the racing. hence the shop has less people in at one time, but the takings and profits are still on the increase. one machine could pay the wages of both attendants in just a couple of minutes of being played.
The bomb was indeed a prop for someone's media studies however, the funny thing is, is that the 'bomb' was sat in a staff room for a very long time. Very farcical, I'm sure you'll agree
A Revamp for Dawlish costing at least £200,000 has been earmarked by Teignbridge District Council as a "starting point" to revitalise the centre of Dawlish. The bandstand on the Lawn will be replaced by a multi-functional building which will be a performance stage, bandstand and information point. District council leader Alan Connett said it's by no means a set figure just a "starting point" ...
A carer who attacked a fellow pub-goer in the street, causing a broken bone in his ear, has been convicted. At Exeter Crown Court 40-year-old Paul Drane, of Park Road, Dawlish, was found guilty after a two day trial of causing grievous bodily harm to Mark Symonds in October 2006. Have you tried putting a note of suggestions through the door if it's worrying you that much!
