Happy Christmas Webmaster and to all who post on this site.
Thought Dawlish must be a large thriving place (untill I looked it up on tourist information)Marks and Spencer Tesco Sainsburys to name but a few all coming to town maybe its just a joke and santa will be the only new face. Found this site by pure chance looking for ancestors in Devon. I live in a little town in Brittany no supermarket no chain stores lots of local small shops cafes and bars. ...
Both Tesco and Sainsbury's are going head-to-head in a bid to win the custom of Dawlish Shoppers. Tesco wants to build a store on the football pitch at Sandy Lane, while Sainsbury's has now announced it wants to build a store and petrol station on land next to the Shutterton Industrial Estate. No planning application for the store has yet been submitted. A public consultation event will be ...
so you did! .. now we see the people behind the big protest, wow they sure have the 'X factor' lol. Regardless of where the store is, I would prefer to shop at Sainsburys but I doubt if Dawlish will, the store though will have a wide appeal from the Exminster/Dawlish Warren catchment.
Because the Tesco leaflet is full of very cleverly worded statements, what appears to be the case is not necessarily so. For example, its comments that "the Recreation Ground will be left alone" and "We have no intention to develop or change the recreation ground" are only true if you go along with what appears to be Tesco's unilateral decision that both the area known as The Hockey Pitch (and ...
There's some land just the Teignmouth side of Hall Lane in Holcombe on the junction with the main road that looks as though it's been set aside. Why can't a supermarket be located there? After all it would be ideally situated between both Teignmouth and Dawlish Town Centres and the buses already go along that stretch of road. And, of course, all those people who live in Hall Road and immediate ...
Yep as said somewhere it is the answer.. that would put an end to the boring fair and Tesco would be in the centre of town. The town would not be quiet anymore would it? ..the Post Office can be relocated inside too, you can weigh your parcels with your shopping at the checkout, just so easy. Grass over the roof, add a play area and a slide, seats around the edge.. that will keep the kids busy ...
I have baby guinea pigs for sale. * males and females * ready now * very friendly , been handled since birth * mum and dad available to see * £10 each please contact cridgy2@hotmail.co.uk if you are interested.
Olive - DADS was started a few months back now in response to continuing rumours about Sandy Lane being built on either for houses or for a supermarket or for both. DADS stands for Dawlish Against Developing Sandy Lane. Whilst DADS will do everything it can to prevent Sandy Lane Recreational Area from being developed for commercial, retail, or residential purposes in principle it is not against ...
does it not strike any of you as well....odd (to say the least) that this survey of Tesco's has had questions determined by Tesco, is being run by Tesco and that survey forms are being sent back to Tesco? The final coup being that Tesco will tell us all the result? If two political parties were fighting an election and one of the two political parties was running the election, collating the ...
To be honest i would rather give Tesco's my personal details, at least i know they would be safe. I had a letter last week informing me that all my personal details including bank account were on the discs that the bloody government lost. Checked my account today and i don't know if the wife has been christmas shopping or if some theiving twat has nicked my money!
But the co-op in Teignmouth (both of 'em!) are actually in the town - not out of it. Out of town/edge of town stores do not necessarily bring people into town centres. I suspect ASDA in N.Abbot easily does more to bring people into the town than Sainsburys or Tescos put together.
This is really bad , because of this "sooty" as had to cancel all is tours to the middle east!
Yes, we went on that today as well. It was really good and so reasonable.
can i ask r u having a laugh or r u being really serious and there is a knight in shining armour in dawlish
Typical comment from Anon. I like Tesco's just not the location, if they were not sure of getting it then why did they buy the lease option of Dawlish Football Club?
And have any of you realised yet that Tesco's survey has more holes in it than a colander?
Can someone please tell Kevin Chadwick to get in touch with us then. www.sandylane.btik.com then click on 'contact us'
The Fire Brigade and the Police were called to Dawlish Community College this morning after a suspicious package was discovered in the school. The school was cordoned off and evacuated. After speaking to one of the Firemen on the scene he was able to advise that the package was a mortar round, apparently taken into school by someone. They were not able to establish if it was live. Later, a ...
Lets be honest here. The words "Dawlish Community" and "TRUST" should never be utterd in the same sentence. Do YOU trust anyone in Dawlish ?
Ooops, sorry Angry, i take it u,ve already complained there then!
Hello Dawlish United, When you applied to TDC to rent the sports pavilion I understand they wanted some really quite ridiculous figure. Is that correct? If so, can you let us know what the figure was.
Well if you don't go there Anon perhaps you'd just like to shut up and let those of us who do go there carry on with out fight to 1. Keep it from being developed and 2, Improve it. You never know, Anon, you just might end up using it in the future.
At the end of a two-day public consulation and exhibition held at the Langstone Cliff Hotel Dawlish Warren members of the public who attended made well aware their feelings against Tesco building a supermarket on the football pitch at sandy lane. A representative from Tesco's said that the two-day event was incredibly busy. Tesco sent out an extra 5,000 leaflets to Dawlish residents, response ...
Just a little reminder to those who may get tempted. In the cold light of DAY remember that you will have to look the rest of us in the face if you sell out to Tesco. I will be intrigued to know how you can equate a car park and supermarket being bang next door to a Youth Club and Skate board plaza.
You seem to be having a seizure DC. Are you okay?
Their is a great new club stating up in January over in Newton Abbot. Im booked on it. Their is only 3 places left. www.control-defence.co.uk I have already trained in this system with www.realitybased.co.uk and it was ace. Same instructors but both doing different stuff. I think one has gone course based and the other is doing group training. The prices are good too.
I was there and it was excellent value for money . and i certainly will be there next year to ,, Truely wonderful
Dawlish Town chairman Dave Fenner said a new stadium would be a boost for the club. Fenner said "we have spent quit a bit of time with local architects designing a stadium for the future which would get us into the conference. Dawlish may be handed the opportunity to move because Tesco's want to build a store at sandy lane.If the plans are given the go-ahead the club would receive a new ...
has anyone wondered or asked the question how much commission dcc earn on new uniforms and where it has gone or what it is being used for or why we where not told about this before we where forced to buy it

On Friday my friend and I took some washing to to Teignmouth Launderette where I was attacked. While going to put the washed clothes into the dryer I was pushed and shoved by someone who accused me of not doing my washing there a man of about 40 came to my rescue. I am in my 50s and was obviously intimitated by this aggressive yob who must of been at least 70.
The methodology of Tesco's survey is so flawed that whatever its result a coach and horses could be driven through it.
Nikki .. I order online once a month, once you have had a delivery they regularly email and offer you a £5 off when you spend £50 or more. The delivery charge is £3.99 if you select a daytime slot. I think its easier online as so many people round the stores and I only buy online what I need so less spend. Am sure one day people will wonder why people wanted big stores when you can shop at home.
Supermarket giants Tesco have unveiled ambitious plans for a store in Dawlish. But confirmation that the company hopes to establish a supermarket on playing fields at Dawlish Football Club in Sandy Lane have sparked complaints from residents. And Dawlish mayor Rosalind Prowse said: "This is the biggest issue that has come to Dawlish for many years." A spokeswoman said: "A new supermarket in ...
No panic Ziggy, No panic at all. The survey is so methodologically flawed that whatever the result, pro or con, it is wide open to challenge. In fact so methodologically flawed is Tesco's survey that it fully deserves to have the 'p' taken.
Did you know that THE HOCKEY PITCH at Sandy Lane (that's the bit of land where Dawlish United presently play) doesn't form part of the recreational area? No? Well that's because that statement is a lie as it DOES FORM PART OF THE RECREATIONAL AREA AT SANDY LANE. Tesco are peddling the lie that it doesn't and that therefore they can build there. Just thought you might like to know. So what other ...
5.00pm The Mayor of Dawlish will switch on the Christmas Lights. So not for anyone with a job then. Just shows this town should be renamed Loserville.
