I agree that the type of visitor that is attracted to Dawlish is something else. How many of you locals have noticed an increase in dog crap on the pavements, since the start of the holiday season? How many of you have noticed that you are pushed out into the road by those ignorant infiltrators? How many of you have been caught waiting behind a sandwich board outside of a certain shop in the ...
How many of his hard working staff get this? The national minimum wage, currently £5.52, rises to £5.73 on 1 October. And how many of his staff do not get that because they are under the said age?
Apart from Teco being a sleazy supermarket, what other objections are there for not wanting Teco here?
I forgot to add in the thread above. We now have Tom (Scobie) Dick (older-Ross) and Wally ------the mayor, all lib dems.
I have now managed to gather further information, and what I have gathered is an absolute disgrace and should be exposed by every means possible. Whichever way the decision is dressed up to show that it is the right decision, is an afront to our intelligence.
Not interested in footy-----it is a mugs game! Whilst it is a sport enjoyed by many, many are paying ludicrous prices to watch it and support it. Who in their right mind would pay way over the odds for a tee-shirt/scarf etc, just because it is symbol of a club of their choice?
I thought local taxes were collected to provide services for all of us and not provide for charities of some other persons choice. Money dished out for local items----- new seating, repair of footpaths/roads, the upkeep of LA properties etc, are what I consider to be needy causes for the taxes we pay. There is an estimated 168,000 registered charities in this country, why should one person have ...
Hear,Hear! Look at the last mare we had, it wasn't look what I am doing for Dawlish, it was LOOK AT ME I am the mare!
Is it true that there are cracks appearing in the walls and the tenants are frantically trying to paper them over?
After an humungous cockup by mr town clerk in the wording of the notice he published and then placed in a conspicuous place, (The Manor House), THERE WILL BE NO BYE-ELECTION. THE WORDING ON THE NOTICE SAID,"If a poll is claimed by ten electors of this Parish",--- That was done by several electors of the Parish. Teignbridge District Council has divorced themselves from the word Parish and claimed ...
Does any one know what sort of wages John Partridge pays his staff. He is by the way for those who do not know, the proprietor of Dawlish Tax's
ZIGGY said,"Tomorrow the new cygnets will be put into a safe enclosure away from the seagulls. " Why? It never used to happen. And do they place swans and cygnets into enclosures at other places? I think not. I wonder if there is an ulterior motive for taking such action?

Dawlish doesn't need more housing, what it needs is sensible rents for those who require somewhere to live, there is plenty of accommodation in Dawlish if you are prepared to pay the rent. Giving accommodation to someone from out of the area, gives the shout brigade (we want more housing) the chance to play into developers hands by demanding more.
Marie wrote: ENTERTAINMENT/LEISURE: There is a leisure centre in Dawlish, Tennis courts, golf course, indoor and outdoor bowling. Unless Tesco get their mucky fingers on it.
Tesco, being one of the bigger food outlets in the country, are not only interested in food. But to give you an example of what will happen, look at what Stoke's did? They killed off the competition and they now sell produce that is labled "class 1" at class 1 prices, but most of it would not be officially declared class 3. Daylight robbery. But then many people like being robbed, don't they?
Quote from the mayor "I found Dom Joly very exhausting, he kept proding me and firing questions at me, I felt completely wrung out". What on earth did she mean?
In the Know, doesn't know alot that's obvious. He/she believes in fairies that's also obvious. Consultation is a get out. How would you know unless you are in the know, what any consultation has thrown up? They can say what they like to get fairies to believe it. Look at the facts not fantasies.
And little brother is watching big brother. How many people on this forum watches come dancing with that piece of antique furniture comparing the show, and how many of you muppits waste money on the phone to say, "yeah, that will win it", but very few of you are interested in your own environment. Sad really!
Really sad how people complain about what is right and wrong with their local area on a site such as this. Dawlish could be an excellent place for all sorts of things, but it has been let down badly by people who are only interested in their own self esteem,-----------Councillors--------. Go to the Manor Council offices and give them grief, don't nag each other.
Now why didn't the person asking the question think of that?
Very upset resident, you say, "What is it about our town? The police are invisible and the councellors are useless!!!!" Well not so much the police, but most councillors that I have come across, will only act in a positive way, if there is something in it for them. If they see no advantage in it for them, don't even bother to mention it.
I assume you would like your money up front for any work you may carry out? After all, there are a lot of vunerable people here in Dawlish.
Hi there ma'am! I am always around the town taking photograph's. As any press photographer will tell you, "There canne b no law agin it". I would not take the picture of any individual on purpose, but if you happened to be in the frame, "Snap" I got you even if I do not know who it is. On this occasion and at the location you have pointed out, it wasn't me. CCTV is spying on you all of the time, ...
It must be very nice to be dumb, stupid and a real ass-ache.
It is rumored that the in place is the Mount Pleasant Inn, Dawlish Warren. Give it a try, the staff are most obliging
I have heard that to work at the mount, you have to be slightly different sexually from the norm. Has anybody else heard this?
Some people liked it and many others didn't. What was it all about, was there a theme to it? There were many law breaking activities that were ignored and others that weren't. Luck of the draw I guess.
Cllr Wills has said on the telly, "the previous duck warden, (Julian Lawley)when refering to the swans, had a sucessful breeding program. Where is the evidence of that Mr Wills? For the swans to go from over twenty to now just five and two of those are kept in cruel conditions in the aviary (where is the RSPCA?) must be the joke of the town.
If you are so ignorant of the facts, why not ask Devon County Council, if you can have a copy of the results. If they will not give them to you, or generally make them available to the public, then there will be an air of suspicion surrounding the installation of the blow pipe's. In case you did not know, they work by a puff of air operating the mechanism in the box at one end of the tubing, when ...
Why do people always take more notice of rumour than fact. Always best to check out the source before malicious gossip gets out of hand. The times I have seen the first part of a sentence start with, "I have just spoken to someone", is countless. There are more straw men than real ones.
Don't shout to loud, otherwise you may wake up those that are all for the youth of this town. We used to take part in many activities on the school play areas when they were closed for summer holidays, but now the likes of insurance risk policies and the like come into play. But I say who runs this effin country anyway.
Nice little earner for force. Stick up a sign on the property, put a poster in their window and a couple of adverts in the paper. And have a good pi55 up on the rest.
Sorry webmaster. In "Notices" and "Backyard", there is a topic, "Manor park play area". I happened to look at the wrong one. As you can see it caused confusion.
Was there adequate advertising before the consultation was conducted? I remember a consultation excersise before CCTV was born here in Dawlish and it was claimed by the now defunct mayor (Tom Bush)that there was overwhelming support. Investigations showed that a new meaning was attached to the word overwhelming. There was little or no support, I guess the same claims could be made for this play ...
Now that the smoking ban has kicked in and it is an offence to drink outside the pub £75 smackers if you are caught, make sure CCTV can't see you. If it can, then you could also end up paying another £75 smackers for dropping your butt on the ground(litter). You have been warned and it could be a costly drink.
