So Dawlish is looking to regenerate it's town centre, not have it turned into a ghost town.
Well they had better hurry. Where would they get the money from they say they have to sell off some of their assets now because there is no money in their piggy.
Maybe selling land at sandy lane would give them enough money to regenerate the town, give the younsters their long awaited skate park, play park in the lawn, etc, etc, etc,

From the consultation held on the Lawn a few weeks ago, the idea is to come up with a plan by the company contracted to carry out the public consultation which will then be submitted for funding after consultation with residents and Dawlish Community Trust. From the ideas put forward then the consensus seems to be to make the Lawn more attractive with various areas possibly a playground? and to encourage shops to go more upmarket and well kept.

This all sounds very good. But here is the problem in Dawlish. Until certain peoples palms have been crossed with silver, nothing will happen, you honestly belive these meetings that are held mean something ?. They are a smoke screen to distract the locals from what is really going on. For gods sake wake up people of Dawlish. It's the people WITH the money you need to talk to, not the puppets they send to these meetings, they are only there to "report back". Speak to the organ grinders, not the monkeys.

If the Council had not wasted nearly £100,000 on CCTV which cannot see at night (they now need to spend morey tax payers money for new cameras) and can see hardly anything during the day due to the leaves on the trees, also had they not lied about the consultation process there would have been that money in the pot, to be used for more important projects.

Blah, blah, cctv, blah, blah, spawn of the devil, blah, blah etc etc.

Not everything relates to cctv, not everything can be blamed on cctv, not everyone hates cctv - especially the young man who was attacked in the town centre recently and thanks to the cctv being watched and the police being alerted managed to avoid a serious kicking. Try telling people like that that it is a waste of money?

Try to find a new hobby horse - the old one should be put out to pasture.

cctv is a threat to personal freedom we are slowly having these freedoms eradicated in this country.
We have more cameras than any other country in Europe yet they have less crime and more important more crimes solved.

And little brother is watching big brother.
How many people on this forum watches come dancing with that piece of antique furniture comparing the show, and how many of you muppits waste money on the phone to say, "yeah, that will win it", but very few of you are interested in your own environment. Sad really!
