Just sign it not known at this address or gone away and put it in a mail box or return to sender.

Now why didn't the person asking the question think of that?

This thread is defunct now as the letters are with the owner. The reason I didn't drop them back into the post box is because my young son opened it, it was personal and there was no return address. I deemed it urgent enough to look for him myself - successfully. I have some compassion, and the letters were of a nature that could have had serious consequences if not delivered.
