I’ve just been reading an article in a housing magazine which says that housing associations could exempt hundreds of thousands of homes from Right to Buy. Last week, 5 housing associations launched a RtB pilot scheme. Apparently the landlords (ie housing associations) are free to decide which properties to exempt from RtB and those included in this exemption will include homes built under a ...

There used to be but i haven't seen it for at least 18 months.
Not sure what you mean by 'bettering yourself' BEE9? Do you think a care worker on minimum wage should better themselves rather than look after you in your old age. Do you think that cleaners should better themselves or anyone else doing a job that perhaps doesn't pay a huge amount but is more worthwhile than some banker or politician? I know lets price everyone who actually works hard for a ...
It's so simple farmers sell land because they are not making profits from farming and we are all to blame as we demand cheaper and cheaper food a good case in point is milk. Six pints of milk for £1.48 it should be £2.48 and then farmers just might think twise before selling the same applies to most food production the only farmers making money are those who run large high teck farms. You could ...
So, we could have a hike in council tax to pay for social care. (see below for what George Osborne said about this in his Autumn Statement). " the health service cannot function effectively without good social care. The truth we need to confront is this: many local authorities are not going to be able to meet growing social care needs unless they have new sources of funding. That, in the ...
From last weeks Dawlish Gazette:" Killer to be held indefinitely at Langdon" A freed killer who was receiving treatment in the community in Exeter risked the lives of shoppers by starting a fire at the Debenhams store in Princesshay. He had a ten-year-long history of offending and was jailed for 42 months in 2007 for manslaughter after he injected a fellow heroin user with a fatal dose. He ...
The government has set itself a target of 1million new homes by 2020 and is looking at having around about 20% of them (that's 200,000) as Starter Homes sold at 20% off market value to young first time buyers. Another 135,000 new homes will be the brand new Help to Buy: Shared Ownership. Many of the restrictions on shared ownership – who can buy them, who can build them and who they can be sold ...

In my opinion it is the league who needs to be fined not the swimming clubs. It was their actions that caused the issue in the first place not the swimming clubs. It would seem the League is salivating over the chance of making £2500 in fines for their own incompetence, that's my feeling.
I would bet it's a fair chance it will be a bookies because there is no need to change the use as it was a bank it comes under the same usage, The first, second and roof space were changed to 5 flats,I assume, after the 2012 planning application was granted on planning application 12/00537/ful.

17 To the israelites the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. Is this a sign from God, not quite as good as milk coming out of a statue though - Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone that attacks innocent people are cowards. The Paris attacks were terrible, I was in Paris in the summer with my family. Should we stop helping the vast majority of innocent people because of these idiots? Where do these people go if no one accepts them? That is exactly what ISIS want. They want for the "west" to appear unfriendly and against Islam, that helps their recruitment no end. ...
How come other towns ie. St. Ives Weston super mare and others have sucessfully intoduced a ban on alcohol in the streets, why is Dawlish so against this? Don't give the old excuse Oh people want to drink wine on the lawn, it works n other towns. Dawlish is very lax on things, like dog fouling, parking on double yellow lines and on the pavement. As for feeling sorry forthe happy hut drinkers and ...

As seen at the 2014 Party in the Park where kids went into the shops who sold them booze and then ran amok spoiling not just the day but ruined the future of the event as well.
The British coast is facing a disastrous future unless urgent action is taken now by the Government and agencies, the National Trust is warning. The country needs to prepare itself for the growing challenges of severe storms and rising sea levels. The UK’s coastline was battered by a series of high tides and storms in 2013 and 2014 which resulted in erosion levels that would normally take up to ...
@ZIGGY , Apologies, for removing the link but it doesn't work for everyone. Admittedly, one would have expected such a web page to be public, but clearly it isn't.
Bristol businessman Matthew Fairweather, and his brother Luke, inherited the site from their late father in March. But they have now decided the Smuggler's Caravan park near Dawlish, Devon, needs so much work it is best to close it and start from scratch. AMAZING photographs were captured in Dawlish of the train that was yesterday named to honour Harry Patch, the last survivor of the First World War. The train carries the famous Ode of Remembrance from Laurence Binyon's 1914 poem 'For the Fallen'. The train passed through Dawlish yesterday, heading back to Plymouth shortly after it's official naming ceremony in Bristol, and will be travelling ...

be interested to know what you are celebrating @Carer . I don't mind fireworks too much, the dog doesn't like it but we can usually fit in a long enough run for him not to get too distressed in the evening. It's the odd firework let off 'willy nilly' I object to. Fireworks are dangerous, there's about 1000 injuries each year (stats available up to 2005, they are no longer collected!). I would ...

@1263 - i agree with you on getting rid of the comissioners, a completely useless excercise in employing a watchdog to oversee the police. paid an extorniate amount of money for being dead weight in a time when the government is screwing exvery penny out of the public services, whilst discussing spending £100 billion on major projects, plus the hs2 fiasco. I would like to see a breakdown of the ...
