POLICE will have the power to act against public drinking and anti-social behaviour in the heart of Dawlish.

Signs listing the prohibitions have gone up and the Public Space Protection Order for Dawlish became legislation on Friday.

It bans anti-social behaviour such as drinking and rough sleeping, drug taking and littering, with failure to comply with the PSPO being a criminal offence.

Taking a walk through The Lawn yesterday evening and the usual site of our infamous drinking club at the shelter by the tourist info centre partaking in their usual consumption alcohol.

You can have as many signs/notices as you like, but those it is intended for will ignore them. As to enforcing the notices. Well you need the police for that and we know how thin on the ground they are.

As I walked back to my car, I passed the now recycled police station. Yes, it has now changed ownership to some form of care company. These satellite police stations were intially setup, to appease the locals, when the large Teignmouth one closed. Although around £60 to £80 K was spent on these many have already been disposed of including the Dawlish and Teignmouth ones.

That's because I'm not there. I do hope you all are calling the 101 number, remember every call that is logged is read from the top down and lands on Joe Mathews desk in Newton Abbot. Not to worry I will be back in 3 weeks and I will be on the phone and emailing the respective people. The 101 number personel and Joe Mathews know I'm a pain in there rear. It's so nice to be Stateside again.
