Shadow transport secretary Lilian Greenwood said ministers appeared to have rejected the idea last year, following the publication of a report which deemed it "poor value for money". However, Labour suggests this measure has come too late, after Westcountry commuters saw season tickets surge by 25% over the last five years. And it claims the Government has failed to explain how it will cover the ...

Last week's battering from Storm Frank forced the closure of the town's seafront Esplanade to traffic because the strong winds and sea spray made the stretch of road too treacherous for motorists. Alongside Dawlish Warren, Exmouth was originally part of a Government Environmental Agency plan to tackle coastal erosion. One of the options under the new Dawlish plan is to use sand collected at ...
I hate them too stephen15! Be great if they are forced to use more HSTs down here. Happy New Year too.
IT looked like a massive foam party at Dawlish last night – after stormy seas caused large amounts of 'spume' on the sea front. Experts say sea foam, or spume, is caused by rough seas. Seawater contains dissolved salts, proteins, fats, dead algae, and other bits of organic matter. If you shake this glass of water from the sea, bubbles will form on the surface of the liquid. This is how sea foam ...

No hard shoulders from what I can see, so the first time their is a conked out vehicle or large crash how will the emergency services get to it. The other side of the road I suppose! Poorly thought out for plans going back over half a century for traffic volumes that were never envisaged in the future. A little to late in my opinion.
I'm sure if TDC's planning dept had to endure bouts of sewage outside their offices on a regular basis it would be resolved very quickly. When I walk around the local area and see some of the nightmare buildings that TDC have allowed planning permission on. Which are either just ugly (in my opinion) or just standout as alien in the location they have been built. This is only the start of ...

Ah, more detail in there, thanks Ziggy. It seems to be taking the route along the wall rather than through the path where the garden area is. Once they come out at the bus stop there's still the dangerous bit round the bend and I can't see how they will get around that. I still think the more sensible idea would have been to have the cycle path come out at Beach Street. They could have 'killed ...
