As you've so kindly raised the subject of housing supply .......... "It has been speculated that Brexit might lead to more people choosing to retire in the UK, rather than in EU countries (Spain has been a popular destination up until now). Devon is already one of the most popular destinations in the UK for retirees. Further flows from within the UK could represent a boost to the economy, as ...

Although they see nothing wrong having 1000's of home's built with little to no supporting infrastructure, outstanding. Keep up the great work elected officials.
Nice to know Ziggy that both EU and your dog enjoy going there.

@DEEDOODLE I would put all Abrahamic religions in the same box as they have similar roots to their beliefs
Maybe we should try harder to make it the case? Comments like " It always seems to be by the same few." don't help. When someone throws insults around don't throw them back etc.
I agree. As we still don't know the long-term effects of vaping we shouldn't be providing it. People should get support to stop but replacing one addiction thing with another even if currently appears "healthier" is not a solution.
I will happily debate/discuss any subject with anyone but there is no need for insults about the subject of the discussion (if a person or persons) or the person you are discussing with. The people on here have differing opinions and that is a good thing as it should allow for a good discussion but once insults start flying around the discussion quickly goes off the subject. There really is no ...

Saw Gary last night. He seemed to enjoying himself. Does anyone know who the drummers were who were last in the parade. I thought they were great. Edit: To answer my own question - seems they are called Spark. https://www.facebook.com/dawlishcelebratescarnival/videos/2012238218840750/
I wonder if these trains will be as popular as the HST, and still be a workhorse of the railways in 40 years time? Someone I know who uses them on the Bristol route is far from impressed with these new trains. I guess we'll soon find out.
House prices 'to fall 30%' by SEAN POULTER, Daily Mail House prices could fall by as much as 30 per cent over the next four years, it is predicted today. The fall out from that could be dire for a lot of people.

There was a suggestion in 2016/17 that a large playpark should be sited between the bandstand and the bowling green. Whilst some welcomed this suggestion it proved contentious, and anyway what had been proposed to the public in the 2016 consultation(a large playpark taking up most of that space) had subsequently been reduced in size as what had been proposed, due to cost, was not viable. So what ...

It is not in the least unusual for threads to wonder off the original topic - that is what discussions do. This thread for example https://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/46183 is about the proposed playpark on the lawn and the public consultation. However, at one point (see postings dated (25.7.18) it wondered off topic. It then went back to the original subject - and so far has stayed there. ...
This thread got derailed by Lynne, God only knows why she had to bring Brexit into a discussion about the car park.
Good luck to the new owners.
Wollaston campaigned for Brexit until just two weeks before the referendum, but then had a sudden change of mind and came out supporting Remain instead. Wholly unreliable, and can't be trusted in my opinion.
I understand that the government isn't making contingency plans to stockpile food - it believes that is the duty of the food industry. The food industry say they have not been consulted about such measures by the government and anyway they do not have the capacity to stock pile food.

The irony is that these Brexiteers want us to go back in time to 50 years ago, but will have to wait another 50 years for that to happen! And the vast majority of them of course will be long long gone by then...

Great, so the next shop to close on the Strand will be the opticians, who, in my experience, are very, very good. Shame our beautiful little town seems to have the self destruct button permanently activiated!
