I wonder if another estate agent/cafe/food related/bookmakers had opened up there instead. would you be happier?

I do quite a bit of my shopping locally, but I'm getting a little bit tired of this "use us or lose us" theme being banged on about all the time. Isn't it about time that some local retailers begin to realise that that it's more a case of shoppers thinking "give us a reason to use you, or lose us " Some have been making an effort (in my opinion), notably Costcutters, the new Geralds for example. ...

Is eating horsemeat really that bad? Let’s put it to the vote. All those in favour say ‘aye’, all those against say ‘neigh. I hear that they are putting uniQuorn in the veggie burgers too. I got some Tesco burgers out of the freezer earlier aaaaaannnnndddddddd.... they’re off! What next? My Lidl Pony? I've tried Sainsbury's and Tesco burgers and I have to say Tesco wins by a nose. Traces of zebras ...

I see that after the auction house closure, it has now opened as "Dawlish Emporium", buying and selling second hand goods. Had a quick look, seems a bit pricey, maybe they're open to negotion though? Ellies Attic seems a better option

Just done a quick search for a tree museum in the uk, without any joy. Wonder if they offered Dawlish musuem something?!

£6 to get it washed at dawlish launderette, ok.. you have to dry it, but unless you have a "smart price" duvet, it has to be worth it. If you're set on replacing it, then recycling charities may be interested (e.g. refurnish/devon, turntable/exeter) or homeless charities such as St Petrocks/Exeter

Bit late Chef, but may be we come to an arrangment ?

Recieved a letter today from May Gurney, informing me that High Street will be closed for essential works near number 35, which I believe is just before Queen Street. Apparently diversions will be in place. Between 1 and 3 October. Pretty short notice. (mind you, I've just thought, maybe that's 2013! Shredded the letter now so can't check!)

I guess there are commercial reasons for it to vist Sainsbury's (and the paralympions need all the financial support they can get), but what a shame it couldn't actually be IN Dawlish!. Could have been another great event on the Lawn perhaps?

I couldn't make the community feast thingy event yesterday, was it a success?

I'm a bit confused. (no change there then) But is there not a difference between affordable, and social housing? I thought social housing would be considered that made available by a social landlord, rent paid mainly by housing benefit. I thought affordable housing would be available for local first time buyers, low income, possibly on a shared ownership basis?

Aw heck Chef, you make it sound like I was havin' a pop!. The shock around Delia cheating was a load of tosh as far as I was concened. A lot of folks I know were prompted to start cooking for themselves because of that series. T'was a bit cheeky of me to make the comment I guess :-(

The one's opposite Harrisons (near tourist info.) was open today (which was convenient for me), and barton car park ones open yesterday when I passed by.

Seems to be open mon to sat around 9ish to 5 ish, (apart from auction days), and they are open to offers without waiting for the actual auction.

Given the amount of interest in trains (for example http://www.dawlish-seawall.com/ ) surely this must be be best viewing platform? Maybe the fisrt floor dedicated to Brunel? Together with the railway engine house (also pretty derelict) there has to be an reason for develpment. maybe
