Since we've moved here we've often commented on how long it very often seems to be before banners and notices are removed after the event they are advertising has happened.
Would that phenomenon perhaps explain why there are still Christmas trees decorating some of the shops Queen St end of town and why the Christmas lights along The Strand (did they get mended in the end?) are still up?
Maybe because there are probably a lot more important things to worry about.
No matter what goes on in this town, someone will always moan about it.

@Lynne.Since I only come to Dawlish on holiday,can you tell me if the lights by the viaduct have been switched on or removed? And have the little flags around the crazy golf,have they finally been taken down? And have they got rid of that jungle in the crazy golf yet?
@stephen15 - i don't know. i don't live in the town to notice.Perhaps someone else can tell you. I just happened to be a passenger in a car yesterday that was being driven along Queen Street and then The Strand and I just happened to notice the Christmas trees and lights. There were no festive lights on but whether that's because we are no longer in Christmas or because they don't work or what, I don't know.
I did happen to have a read of the Eyes of Dawlish threads yesterday and see that someone on there had raised the very same issue about the Christmas trees on EoD at about the same time as I did on Dawlish.com (spooky eh?). The response they got to their posting was that a firm were supposed to have come to Dawlish to remove trees/lights but for some reason hadn't done so. I've no idea if that is correct or not.
Still, I suppose the lights will come down when the Strand renovation starts place soon. Dunno about the Christmas trees though.
