Pie in the sky. What an apt description of all the promises made by Leave campaigners!
The UK, overall, may not have voted for Brexit. That's what may have been different.
advert on front of this week's Gazette says the following: Barton Surgery will be closed from 12.30pm on Thursday 22nd February for the installation of a new telephone system. The practice will re-open at 8.30am on Friday 23rd February . If you require medical assistance whilst the surgery is closed, please telephone the following numbers between these times: Thursday 22nd Feb: 12.30pm ...
To be serious for a moment. Think on this. If. for the sake of arguement, part of the present CW did have a name change then I wonder how that might impact on the ability of those living there to get things like credit cards/open bank accounts/get passports etc. I haven't needed to open anything like that for ages but I seem to vaguely recall that you get asked how long you have been living ...
Alternative route for through traffic will be via High Street, Queen Street and The Strand. For more info contact: Western Power Distribution tel: 01803 320334.

More info (leaflet just come through the letterbox) Sandy Lane will be closed to vehicles throughout the duration of the works. If you have a vehicle or vehicles on Exeter Road please remove them whilst the works are in progress (any remaining vehicles may be towed away). If you live on Exeter Road there maybe times when access to/from your driveway may not be possible. Works will ...
So.......to get back to the original topic of this thread - the link road (although I accept that there is a Sainsbury's link (ouch!)). Anyway.......to get back to the original topic of this thread, I see from the report in the Gazette that no date has been given as to when this road will be built.
Yes. But......... there is also the issue of equal pay for work of equal value. ie not necessarily doing the same job but one that should be paid the same amount as a job being done by a man/men because although both jobs may be different the amount of skill, qualifications etc required to do both jobs are comparable. Employers must pay men and women equally if they are doing 'like work ', ...
What is deemed to be dirty and what is not varies from culture to culture. We have dogs in our houses and treat them like members of the family., Some people not only let them on their furniture but also on their beds. Other cultures don't see dogs as pets (but as food) and others see them as being dirty creatures that should not be allowed anywhere near the inside of a home. Cows are sacred ...
I don't have a problem with eating food that is more local to us. And continental Europe is a darn site nearer to us than anywhere else on the planet (barring the Republic of Ireland). @Diane Mondeo - if, say, just for the sake of argument, we were to have no imports whatsoever from continental europe do you really believe that would stop the illegal imports of drugs, people and guns? and ...
Perhaps it's the government's way of trying to raise funds to pay for all those extra customs officers and check points and things that we will need if we crash out of the EU.
Just a reminder that if you were born anywhere on the island of Ireland or can prove Irish descent (not sure by how many generations back) you will be eligible for Republic of Ireland nationality and therefore an Irish passport. Which means you can carry an EU passport and be an EU citizen. So......those UK nationals born in NI can be EU citizens if they so wish. Whilst those born in Scotland, ...
A skate park for fish?

Well there you are then. He could go on the speaking circuit. And if doesn't work out he could always apply for a job as a barman........

Yes I know that (and thanks for your help). I asked as there are no minutes online for any of the full council meetings since July of this year. That is why I asked the question as there is (presently) no way for me (or anyone else for that matter) to check. Just wondered if anyone reading this had been in the public gallery at any time since July and noticed whether or not they had been ...
I just happened across this FOI concerning TDC playpark closures and budgets. https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/playground_budgets_and_closures_275#incoming-897575

It isn't rate payers money! It is money that has come from developers. Part of the planning agreement for Sainsbury's to be built was that it should give an amount of money (£200,000 I think it was) for use in the town centre. This money has to be spent within 10 years of the commencement of the building of Sainsbury's. So we are looking at it being spent by 2021/2022. If the money isn't spend ...

I thought this info might be useful. The following are the grounds on which planning permission is most likely to be refused (although this list is not intended to be definitive) : • Adverse effect on the residential amenity of neighbours, by reason of (among other factors) noise*, disturbance*, overlooking, loss of privacy, overshadowing, etc. [*but note that this does not include noise or ...
Actually if the world warms up then our climate could well become colder. Why? Because if the Gulf Stream is disrupted (and it is the warmth of the Gulf Stream that keeps our climate as temperate as it is) then we will have a much colder climate in this country.
See bottom page 4 in this week's Gazette for more info on the extension of double yellow lines in the areas I have mentioned above.

Have been told that the powers that be are aware that more dog poo bins are needed and that getting more of them installed at the park is underway.
Low pay/not having enough money to pay bills etc is indeed a subject to be taken seriously.* But bear with me if now I sound frivolous on the subject. So........... all these low income families in Dawlish are going to spend their spare income (what spare income?!!!?? ) in the shops in the centre of town when they come into town in order to take their under 8 year olds to the proposed ...
Some info here re the closure of Daw Vale care home and the provision (or lack of) of elderly residential care in Dawlish. https://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/34205 http://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2014-11-03/in-full-the-20-devon-care-homes-facing-closure/
I thought it was still open. When did it close? Ah! Just remembered - I think it is now called the Funky Frog or something similar. Click here for more info http://www.funkyfrogsplaypad.co.uk/ (Does T'mouth have anything along the same lines? )

Even though only 680 residents responded, given what is being claimed from that figure (that 77% of Dawlish residents are in support of there being a playpark on the lawn) I think it is important that we have a breakdown of how those 680 residents answered the questions. For example, if I had participated in the questionnaire and had voted Yes to question 1 and Yes to question 3 would my ...
I've been away for a while and have had restricted access to emails which may account for the fact that I missed reading this response from an officer at TDC sent to me the day after my letter was published in the Gazette. Here is part of the TDC email response. It gives answers to my questions of 1) who owns the countryside park and 2) who would be paying for its maintenance. It seems that ...
But the point is that with the free movement agreement between the RoI and the UK, the UK will not necessarily know who has entered the UK and who has left it. We may know, courtesy of the Irish border authorities, who has entered the Republic via their official passport controls, but how will we know whether or not those people have consequently travelled into the UK? And remember that a lot ...
