I'd be interested in the opinion of others -
If you had just served a term of office in which you had attended hardly any meetings during the last year, would you have the b@lls to stand again?
I note that two Councillors who have attended just one each of two committees they sit on and one of them has attended none of a third committee, are both standing again.
Do we feel that this is 'value for money'? Yes, I know they don't get paid but for us to vote them in costs money.
And I know people have to work, and they have family stuff going on etc etc, we all do. But if you can't commit to it (and they obviously can't), do us all a favour and stand aside for someone who can.
BTW, I have no political allegiance here, I believe party politics has no place in town council.
Staying on the gravy train is the norm in todays politics. They may not get the remunerations that others higher up in politics get, but they get a lot of help if they want help in other directions. Planning is open to plenty of corruption and I have noticed that there has been plenty of watchers for planning applications.
Strangely though, planning was the one they didn't go to.
I find it frustrating, they are literally place holders. Just there to stop someone else. Party politics stinks (yes, I know it always has)
We have a great bunch of independents standing this year so let’s hope some of those non-attenders are ousted.
Tomorrow, Friday 12 April, is the last chance for people to register to vote in the local elections.
