Shocked to learn about Kenneth McLeod. Did you know that we also lost the talents of Ian Stirling too ? If anyone out there knows the wherabouts of Lawrie Quayle, or any of our other long forgotten Westcountry presenters reply to the forum. Long live Gus Honeybun !!
Thousands of householders will be without electricity until tomorrow after the tail end of Hurricane Gordon lashed parts of the UK, bringing down power lines. The worst affected areas were Mid Ulster, Craigavon and Newry, with parts of south Belfast also hit. The South West of England was also battered by winds reaching more than 80mph. An Atlantic storm fuelled by the end of Hurricane Gordon hit ...
Hi I have a request if anyone has any ideas - our friend who is moving to Dalwish in November is looking for a studio to rent. He needs approx 500ft, preferably with its own power supply. He is a BBC wildlife cameraman and really needs this asap. If anyone can help it would be great. Thanks. Nadine
Train services between Exeter and Newton Abbot have returned to normal after the disruption yesterday due to structural damage of the sea wall in the Dawlish area.
Due to high winds overnight structural damage has been caused to the sea wall in the Dawlish area and the seaward track has been closed (that's the one that goes from exeter to cornwall). Track engineers are down there now assessing the damage and trains passing on the good line have a speed restriction. Services between Exeter and Newton Abbot are being disrupted as many commuter (little trains) ...
This website is being viewed all over the world. This is true.

I don't know if it was your post, but one of the posts had an unacceptable and unnecessary amount of offensive language, so I marked the post as 'unavailable', which would have made unavailable all threads below it. Sorry if yours has disappeared, but there has to be a limit, and I really could not be bothered to go through and mask all the swear words. I personally do not want swear words like ...
Boot strap bill (love the name by the way - fellow fan) you are so right. If it wasn't for family in this country we'd be off. Have even looked at emigration sites for Australia - hubby and I don't quite qualify unless we start up a business which is not what we want to do. But when the day comes that my daughter has to wear a headscarf to school we're off. For a religion that supposed preaches ...
youth center shut down!!!!!!!
Good idea!!!! Also great website! Keep up the good work our Master!!!!
I appriciate your views on this subject. However, this is a new form of self defence, and i'm not saying if you were to train hard in it and come face to face with a robber that you might do anything. But why not be prepared. The Airsoft is great fun and in-expensive. costs £35.00 for the whole day including gun hire, camo gear, green fees etc. Where as paintball cost that for 3 hours. We are not ...
Hallo Chris and Alan, we are really delighted to have found your missive on the notice board. We are still at the same address, Gerry is still with Royal Mail. We have often wondered how you were getting on but did not have any contact details for you. Now we can at least send you this reply and let you know that we would love to get in touch. Have missed your visits these past summers for tea in ...
On Saturday 16th September 2006 St. Gregory's Church is having an open day 10.00 am - 4.00 pm. Lots of things to see and do. Something for everyone Please come along.
Hmmm? That's disturbing! Is there such a thing?
Hi Does anyone know of any properties (House, Flat, Rooms) to rent where pets are accepted? Or any estate agents specialising in such rentals in Dawlish.
Mr Spock. You are to put it mildly a plonker ! take your educated garble else where. No one wants to listen to you. Your points are not valid and we don't care who you really are. Regards
haha..do you remember when me, you and Amanda got drunk at her place and the three of us played spin the bottle !! you were so naughty..
lansdowne fine if you have an hour or two or three to spare, being the only customers for a simple meal and having a half hour wait dread to think how long to wait if it is busy maybe a booking the week before would be reccommended
Can anyone please let me know if you are collecting the plastic milk bottle tops in Dawlish (the ones for the plastic misty milk bottles). I have a big bag and wondered if any organisation was requiring them. Many thanks
It’s nice to hear from councillors who have sympathy for the youth of today and, lets face it, there are not that many in Dawlish. Councillor Percy is right on her views about the new plans for the new youth facilities on two counts: 1. A five-year plan to develop the project to fruition solves nothing of the ‘problem of youths today’, and I quote this because I’m not really too sure that the ...
Daw Vale is in the local rag again as Devon County Council continues its plans for the modernisation of the long-standing residential home. According to the local rag there has been interest from the private sector of which the council is concentrating on two care providers. There is, however, a contingency plan which the council’s executive - Cllr John Rawlinson - is considering this week. This ...

Hi, I left Dawlish about 2 years ago after working for Royal Mail for 20 years. I am now in Portugal and have written to the following people but have never had a reply from any of them. Are they dead or just fair weather friends or maybe (and I hate to say it) just plain ignorant. The people I would like to have had some contact with are: Syd Thomas, Peter Brooks, Gerry Sudwell, Phil Bye (all ...
Hi, Chris and Alan, So glad to see you are still using this website and thinking about friends in Dawlish. We haven't been away for 2 years but enjoying retirement with the family and our beautiful Tara WOOF!
Recommend you ask Town Council, but as far as I know there is still a long way to go re raising funds. If you feel like it have a look at the proposed building in the planning part of Teignbridge District Councils website. One of the reasons why this is going to be a long process is the proposal to put the skate park under the building. Keeping it under cover is a good idea but it puts the cost up ...
Patrick has just walked into the room with his face (and most of the rest of him) covered in chocolate ice cream. He's having a good day - this is his third helping and he's not even out of his pyjamas - but he's come to tell me that I'm a Mean Mum because I didn't let him have "squirty cream" on it. I started my usual speech about Having to Draw the Line Somewhere, but he'd already left the room ...
Ok ok Ok lets all take a breath and think about this! What would you rather A mosque or a mosquito farm! Neither! Sorry for the rasist comments posted on this thread hope knowone got too offended! But with all the terror and hurt going on these days it makes me angry! Sorry again Mr webmaster and all involved in this thread! It'll be nice if others came forward for an apoligy! Also don't think ...

Sometimes gossip is another name for concern. This poor lady would not have laid dead for four weeks if more people kept an eye out for their neighbours. (the family aren't local)
Hope you have a great time. Good places to eat are Smugglers inn at Holcombe - great carvery with local meats and other dishes and the old mill tearoom for cream teas with home made scones. If you want to visit local attractions I recommend the museum, very cheap and great displays. The lawn area with the ducks and swans are always popular and the beach is nice, if you've got children it is worth ...
