Oh Concerned! You are so, so wrong. I know we've had our spats you and I via this board but I promise you Dawlish United are very dear to lots of people's hearts. Do you know what I think? I think, that as TDC has now had a change of heart re selling off Sandy Lane it might be worthwhile you holding fire on moving off to Warren Road. See what the New Year might bring Concerned and then see if the supermarket scenario then is as it is now.......

I know lots of Mums and DADS who don't want you to leave Sandy Lane. If we all agree we don't want Tesco there then perhaps we can all start to agree on what to do with the land.....?

Hi "Concerned" - hearing you loud and clear! WE DO CARE! As DADS the whole purpose is to keep Sandy Lane green and open for leisure and recreation. We need to keep the football clubs there. It's vital. We need to keep Tesco's off - that would be a potentially tragic mix!
"Concerned" - please pop over to our website: sandylaneDOTbtikDOTcom give us your email address and lets start some meaningful dialogue. !

Concerned - just had a thought. Why don't you put all that you've written above in a letter and send it to the local press? People don't know what you and Dawlish United are feeling unless you tell them, do they?

Dawlish Gazette = Dawlish@internet-today.co.uk
deadline for letters is 12 noon Mondays for Wednesday publication.

Dawlish Post = mda.edit@internet-today.co.uk
letters probably need to be in by late Tuesday for Friday publication.

In both cases you'll need to give name and address and daytime tel no. But papers won't publish no of street/road or tel no.

Come on! We all need to fight together on this one.

Concerned- Support the supermarket and Tesco will build you a nice new football ground on Warren road. Oppose the supermarket and go without because without Tesco's investment nothing will happen to the football ground. It would be great if Tesco will pay for a new stadium at Sandy Lane & build a supermaket at shutterton, but that just wont happen.

Concerned. You could have hells bells getting planning permission for anything other than the basics on Warren Road. Where you are due to go is extremely near a quiet (at the moment) cul-de-sac - Pinewood Close - do you think they won't object to your wanting floodlights for example? Think, Concerned think. Why is DC so determined that you should not stay on Sandy Lane?

Still write that letter not least because Dawlish Town are claiming that they will be looking after the youth of the town. Do you agree with that?

It is in Dawlish Town's interest that you move off the 'hockey pitch' cos if you stay that screws up the Tesco deal that Dawlish Town desperately want for their own ends!!!!

Hi concerned, pop over here and have a look at what's going on in the real world. We DO care about children having space to play in - not having to run up and down Tesco's aisles! That's why this organisation is called Dawlish Against Developing Sandy Lane.
And what's so wrong with the football club staying put? It's a great place, easy to reach, smaller kids can have a kick about while big brother plays? Being next to a main pitch will inspire young people of all ages to get involved with sport. Even if the football club leaves - how safe is the Sandy Lane rec area going to be with all those deliveries and cars going to Tesco?

It would be great if we would get a shiny new football pitch in the same location but nobody's got the money for that apart from Tesco. We want the best facilities for our youth and this is our chance.

Sandy lane will be a lot safer when a proper road is there with Tescos rather than the lane now, have u ever driven up there when parents are collecting their kids from the nursery and are parked all over the road, and small children running around everywhere? In between trying to avoid parked cars and cars coming the other way, we have to also be constantly looking out for any children stepping out between the cars.Hopefully tescos will give us a proper road with good visability and stop the parked cars causing obstructions, and therefore reduce any accidents.

How do you know nobody's got the money for that except for Tesco? Codswollop. All sorts of avenues can be explored for money. The Skate board project has just picked up £94,000 for goodness sake!

I take it you never have to run the school gauntlet then.

No I don't have to run the school gauntlet. My children walk to school!. That said, I know the community college's catchment area is huge so therefore many of the students get bussed in or are driven in. But that is exactly my point. The area is already busy with trafffic and children so why, oh why, make it even busier with traffic?

Yes Anon, we Mums and DADS completely agree with you (see our postings above). We want to help Dawlish United. If they want to get in touch with us we have told them how (see Sue Haswell's posting).

We are waiting.

Dawlish Town have only one interest in the children of Dawlish , its because they can get grants , for them to fund there first team and facilities ,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once the grants have been used then your children will be out on the streets !!! Dawlish Town was never intrested in the youth of Dawlish till Tesco , started throwing ideas there way , then they set up the under16s ,, all from an out of area club not Dawlish youth !!! be aware dawlish united are for the youth . Dawlish Town are out for the adults !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
